Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage

Well I can and I guess I will. I just though people might want to read it themselves.

But yes this is the newest quarterly out there.

For the S&SS stuff, they discuss two books in great detail, Echoes of the Past: Slacerian Legacy and Blood Sea: Crimson Abyss. The new prestige class is Seaborn, which is primarily for those that follow Manawe. Not much detail about other Scarred Lands save mention of Edge of Infinity which apparently they'll discuss in the next quarterly/Insider There is of course info on the upcoming Warcraft stuff, Shadow & Light, along with Lands of Conflict, Magic and Mayhew. Those get a lot mention and detail. They do mention Lands of Mystery coming up in 2005. But Shadows and Light is their Planar guide, Lands of Conflict covers the regions of Lordaeron, Khaz Modan, and the continent of Azeroth, including information on people and culture, geography and climate. Magic and Mayhem includes expanded discussions upon and variant rules for magic, such as how to handle the magic corruption that has proven such a temptation to the high elves. There’s also a new core class, the runemaster, as well as new prestige classes and feats that explore the roles of magic and technology in the setting. Given the book’s title, it’s not surprising that it has a horde of new spells and magic items developed from the Warcraft computer games. Finally, further details are provided on creating technological devices, and a healthy supply of your favorite technological treats receives full statistics and descriptions. The last part discusses errata. Gamma world they talk about Gamma world Dm's Guide. I can go into details about Malhavoc press, Everquest, but I'm much rather say they are short and don't go into NEARLY as much detail as we have at the moment, at least about Malhavoc Press. Ravenloft talks about revising and new art work from Denizens of Darkness and making it better with Denizens of Dread. There is also apparently more new stuff too. There's also a Van Ritchen's Guide to Shadow Fey. That's about it. Now necromancer sounds great as they talk about giving the fans what they want. Stuff like Tome of Horrors II, Mesopotamia: Cities in the Sand, Book of Lairs, A little nod to Judge's Guild, Support for AU, but primarily the stuff we love, The Bonegarden, The Crystal Skull and Skull and Shadow, The City of Brass, and the Nautical Sourcebook. That's pretty much it.

Magic and Mayhem? MORE spells?! Crud, I'm not halfway into data entering the Relics and Rituals spells into DMs Familiar...I thought when I was unemployed I would have had time to do that, but somehow I was just as busy as ever. Of course the fact that my wife was unemplyed at the time as well probably didn't help since she was there all the time to add to the "Honey Do" list.

Oh well, more Scarred Lands stuff is always good (as long as I have money to buy it with).

Oh, mighty Sage, have you heard any whisperings on an upcoming sourcebook for Hedrad?

Thornir,

You DO know Magic and Mayhew is a Warcraft product, NOT a Scarred Lands one right?

And no I have not heard that. There are still rumors of either a Durrover and/or Darakenee sourcebook. But no offical word IF that will happen.

I have, however, recieved a stern but rightfully so lecture that I was misinformed aka I screwed up about R&R3. While there will be a FEW spells from the softcovers that will be updated to 3.5, this book won't contain ALL the spell revisions from previous R&R books. Nor will have all the spells from other sources updated, just a few. So my bad folks. mea cupla.

My bad on the Magic and Mayhem being Warcraft. Missed that in the fast reading I was doing while holding a sick child.

And you Nightfall, Sage of the Scarred Lands, made a mistake about a Scarred Lands product?! My reality is somewhat shaken ;)

I have lost all faith in you and your advice... BEGONE PEASANT! :-)

PDF's that I'd like to see from S&S, the Class Books (Players Guide to ...). They have good information on flavor stuff and simply put, I get tired of trying to steal my friends (Yes I realize I can buy it in hard cover, but PDF is so much easier for me...) Any hope of them putting it out?

Bah! You may have lost faith in me but I STILL the Sage (I got the cerificiate to prove it! ;) )

Believer, sadly I don't believe there will be PDFs of the class books. At least not to my knowledge. That being said, I'm sure maybe after the first print run, they might sell all five together as a collector's item cheaply. I'm saying MIGHT! I don't control such things. But do remember they have put together Scarred Lands bundles before. Might be they'll do it again.
