Scarred Lands big sale.. whats up?

Whoa there. I know just enough at this point to recognize the names of those Titians. Plus I don't tent to run world altering campiagns. Region altering yes. :)

Two Falls,

Eh I just figured I'd toss out some ideas. You can always scale them down to something like this:

King Virduk has been assassinated!! The power struggle begins! Do the PCs help? Add to the chaos? Or do they have the strength and desire necessary (as well as the cunning and political savvy) to become the NEW Emperor of the Hegemony.

Hollowfaust expands its reach, now with the aid of a new race of constructs, the Ironborn! :) Yes with these advances, along with greater skeletal guards, the people of Hollowfaust look to secure their city-state and also forge strong alliances with the outside.
However they aren't the only ones looking to expand. The Sutak, thanks to planar magics, have joined with an ambious Efreeti, to start turning the Ukrudan desert into their own personal fiery demese. The Assatthi, long silence but always looking to expand, start to carve out their own as they have now gained access to the Desert Jewel.

Or my favorite: Psychic mutancy! Yes friends there are those among us with strange gifts, not of the Titans or spirits, nor of the gods. Yea, we must be viligant...and perhaps maybe start a little persecution! Just a few ideas.

If the offer lasts long enough, I may get tempted to take R&R2 and CCR.

Hmm, speaking as a magic-addict, anyone knows how portable is Al-Kabor's Arcana to straight D&D? Same questions about the two EQ monsters books, BTW.

Anyone noticed the new S&SS book in the White Wolf Release Schedule? Looks like S&SS in jumping on the "generic book for everyone" train with WotC.

BTW: the Insert Hyperlink function doesn't seem to be working. Or at least I can't get it to work with Mozilla Firefox.

04/18/2005 Glades of Death: first in the series of environmental books. WotC's line didn't interest me in the least, but maybe this one will...

05/02/2005 The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps: D&D 3.5 rules, so I guess S&SS is still churning out D20 stuff.

Looks good to me, even though I miss Scarred Lands. Anyway, I got a good SL campaign running and plenty of interested players :).

These are both titles from 'Necromancer Games'. They are an independent d20 company and not part of S&SS, just part of the S&S publishing house.

I've just had so much Scarred Lands material land on my porch that its hard for me to lament the death of the setting. After all, if it weren't for the sale I wouldn't have spent all this money on it. Good gods this is a lot of reading material.

Someone told me Hallow Faust was the best city book they had ever read. I'm trying to organize my studies logiclly. Reading the Ghelspad book to get a feeling for that setting first, but couldn't resist jumping into the book about the selarcians (sp?).

Mithril looks really good too.... arg, need more time!

Ah, okay. Well, they look good all the same. Of course that doesn't mean I'll preorder them or anything like that.

I bought some discounted stuff from Whitewolf around Christmas, ordering them to a friend of mine who lives in NY and was coming to Israel. This discussion really made me itch to buy some more SL stuff. However you won't believe the shipping charges for international addresses! I have 6 books for 40$ in my cart, I have 2 shipping options, for 38$ and for 40$ !!! That doubles the price of my order and pretty much makes me cancel it :(

The cheapest shipping option for US addresses is 5$, not fair :( Really I don't understand how come its so expensive, Amazon ship for so much less...

oh well... no SL for me

During the big FFG sale last year, shipping was more than doubling the cost of my order.

Still, $11 a book (even if they're supposed to be $5) is still a good bargain.

But WW's not dropping the price to $5 here.

Hello,

I was checking in to see if anyone could fill me in on all that's available for the "core" type rules for Scarred Lands.

Not counting city, wilderness, splatbook products or player's guides is there anything that is required to play the Scarred Lands?

I have interest in CC III but was wondering how hard it is too retro fit 3.5 mobs into 3.0?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Core-wise, the books most essential for the setting are the first Relics and Rituals, the Divine and the Defeated, the Creature Collection Revised and the Ghelspad Hardcover. If you have those books, your bases are all essentially covered.

However, the Ghelspad hardcover is readily replaced by just the gazetteer; it's not quite as extensive in its coverage, but it has the essentials. Some of the stuff in the Ghelspad hardcover is "eh," anyway, particularly the stuff on Lokil and even the epochs.

Also, the Ghelspad hardcover is arguably interchangeable with the Termana hardcover, for what that's worth.

For what it's worth, though, I do think it's worthwhile to up-date to the Creature Collection Revised - regardless if you're playing 3rd or 3.5. The first one is just...sloppy. The revision doesn't fully up-date to 3.5, but does clean up a lot of the problems from the first one.

As for the third Creature Collection, it shouldn't be too hard to change over to 3rd edition. Then again, I find interchanging a lot of things from 3rd to 3.5 and vice versa to be relatively simple.
