scarred lands campaign

I have seen a lot of people who say that they are new to the scarred lands here or are thinking about running a game there. How is that working out for you and what location did you pick from which to run your game?

Well I have been running a campaign in the Scarred Lands for the past 8 months.

IT was mostly located in Vesh although there were a few side trips to the Hornsaw Forest and Mithril. The game timeline was streteched over 5 years with many interesting things happening ni between.

At the end when I ended the campaign, Vesh was a mess of smaller city states who act as vassals to the corrupt state of Canceri to the east. Peace has still not come to the land with my group's heroes messing with my villains plans. One is now a leader of small feudal country bordering Canceri, another is part of the leadership who control Mithril who is remodelling the city in his image, curse his ego! One more is looking to meet his twin brother who is the main villain of the campaign and the last noe has gone into exile to atone for his sins in the Hornsaw.

Now as you can see I run a very twisted Scarred Lands campaign but hey, whatever works. The party's average level is 20+ with the Paragon template added in though the campaign started at 1st level.

Enjoy

I started mine In the Heteronomy of Virduk, but its since moved to Vera-Tre, and from there probably on to Mithril.

I just recently bought "Scarred Lands Campaign Setting: Ghelspad". Based off the info in this thread- http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34873

Now, I admit that since I just picked up the book, I haven't read it cover to cover yet. But, what I've read so far is nice. I didn't know anything about the Forgotten Realms before I read the "FRCS" book, so I read that with the same fresh perspective that I am now reading "SLCS: Ghelspad" with. Having said that, I find Scarred Lands to be more to my tastes so far. Sword&Sorcery did a fine job with the book, but FRCS is till a more attractive book to flip through and hold. But as far as written material, "SLCS:Ghelspad" has FRCS beat in my opinion. Why is SLCS:Ghelspad so light on the art? I know Sword&Sorcery has access to good artists. I've seen great art in their other books. It is odd that there are not more illustrations in this book.

Anyways. Enjoying it so far. Haven't started my campaign yet. It still depends if my old gaming group can muster together. We're still having schedule type problems. Many of the players now have new born additions to their family. So who knows if we'll actually start. But when I do, if we do, it may start in Bridged City. Not exactly the most gentle place to start I know. :D

the lack of illustrations I didnt find to be a problem. I liked the fact that they did the coat of arms for each country. the only "illustration" that I felt was missing was not an illustration by itself but rather a part of one. what I am talking about of course is the provencial bounderies of the country of Darakeene.

I to own the FRCS book and actually found meny of the illustrations to be nothing more then an unnessicary distraction.

*wants to thank San for his little homage* :)

In any case I've got three right now. Two of them are online, (actually three but I get ahead of myself), both based on mIRC chat. The first one I've been running for probably now, almost five months, based out of Hollowfaust. The new one as I call it, I'm using Fangsfall. (They already have a chat but I think this one will be VERY unusual! :) ) Have to see out this one turns out. In any case I'm certainly enjoying the prospect of both campaigns. The last one will probably prove the most challenging since it's Psionic Character only fest based in Hedrad. Should prove quite the challenge. :)

Psions

just the fact that they are out there makes my skin crawl *sudders again* but one of the modules we are working on Graf has a really creative use for Ioun Beholders, so we will see . . .
