Scorpion heritor

My question is in the scorpion heritor prestige class from the book sandstorm. In the section it describes the class ad being a rogue prestige class and grants sneak attacks. Most of its prereqs are for a 5th lv rogue, +3 bab, 8 ranks in hide but it says you need 4 ranks in survival an knowledge nature and that would meen that you need to be a 8th lv rogue. But when you go back to the sample build he is a 5th lv rogue and 5th lv scorpion heritor. So my question is, does anyone know if there is a typo in this section and if so what it should be?

I believe your cap for a cross class skill at level 5 is (5+3)/2, or 4. This means you can qualify as a straight rogue, though it certainly does help to take a 2 level dip in Ranger right before you enter.

Side Note: Scorpion Heritor is a class very nicely balanced between flavor and mechanics. It makes really interesting NPC's.

Unfortunately, it's a rare sample character that is entirely correct. There are many examples of similar errors in other 3e books.
