But, I still see something I don't agree with:

How do you get that? It's 1/25 base cost, or 30 xp per scroll, or 300 xp for 10 of them.

I was calculating quickly and probably didn't come up with the correct #'s. I believe 30 xp is correct.

There are a few spells that don't scale much or require saves, like true strike and knock or have a decent base duration like Magic Circle vs alignment or Water Walking. These are also spells that you might not prepare to cast every day. These are excelent canidates for scrolls.

So the largest 'problem' with scrolls is more that the player will almost always have the right spell available to him. The DM crushes thier swamp boat in the middle of nowhere, you don't have to waste a day to cast make whole. Even at that it's a minor advantage.

This is my take as well - scrolls in combat tend to provide, at best, a minor advantage. The big benefit of a scroll is having the right spell for the right occasion. There are certain spells, such as knock or (as above) make whole, which are not needed often but when they are they're really needed. That's the true benefit of scrolls.

He already said where they are carried...in the title of this thread :p

Heh, that makes em hard to read though :)

I gotta get me one of those infinite scroll cases, my poor horse has so many scroll cases strapped to him he would probably float down the river like a pontoon raft.
