Okay, maybe I'm stupid, but I've checked everyting I can and still I can't find a SEARCH option.

i.e. I want to read forum posts about specific subjects, even old posts.

It's only available to Community Supporters.

You can try to use the archives or search on Google or something.

Like, if you want to search EN World for threads which talk about creating towns, you could do a search for:

creating towns site:enworld.org

If you have a search request, most times you can get some help by posting what you're looking for here in the Meta forum or in Off Topic.

community supporter account = search


but you can arrange the forums by thread starter, number of posts, and date....

That notice must only be there if you're not a Community Supporter -- I don't see it. If that's the case, though, it does seem like it would address the question pretty well.
