Searching for a melee LA +1 race...

My DM is not going RAW with the xp table when it comes to LA +1 race (same progression as LA +0)...playing a dwarf with bunch of LA +1s, I decided it was high time for me to change into another race (LA +1 of course) when this became apparent. Any suggestion for LA +1 race that has a fighter type class (tank)? :]

Ah...I thought of that...other than the fact that it really is a bit cheezy...I prefer a race that is more 'diplomatic' (or humanoid)...thanks though!
 


How about a lizardfolk? You lose a point of BAB, but the +2 Str, +2 Con is nice(and the Str bonus sort of makes up for the BAB), and +5 natural armor and natural claw and bite attacks for 1d4 aren't bad. -2 Int isn't a huge deal if you're a fighter type.

Thats 3 levels that will be lost {you must take the lizard man's 2 monster hit dice in addition to the LA+1.]


The poison dusk lizard folk [MM3 & google-able] make Uber melee rogues and small fighters. you get a LOT for one level. you are small, but won't notice it till you are grappled [carry ingested poisons in acid vulnerable material should you happen to wind up in a stomach]. If you can reliably get enchanted small mithral full plate and large shield [or mithral tower shield if DM allows for mithral to help the tower's max dex bonus], you should be sitting pretty with godly AC.

• As long as most of the skin is exposed, a Poison DuskLizardfolk receives a +5 Racial bonus on Hide.

Half-Ogre is revised in Races of Destiny and now LA+2 race.

But anyway, if your DM is not following basic rules, ask him how much LA will he ignore. Just +1? Or shall +2 race still advance as +0 race? How about +3? Ask the limit and then look for the strongest race.
 

Ask if you can use one of the bloodlines from Unearthed Arcana. That way you can still have a dwarf but with some bonusses.
