OK I will try to never post anything that leads to non-OGL stuff on the web, even if I wasn't the one who posted it in the first place, even if I found it within 2 pages of a basic google search. Honestly I don't see what I did wrong, but I will refrain from doing at again.

Just makes me want to come up with an analogy.... like, I'm talking to a police officer, and he tells me streaking is illegal. So I look over his shoulder and point at someone streaking and say "Like that guy over there?" and I get arrested. Weird. Funny, but weird.
Well, the issue is just that we can't have it here. You're not going to get arrested or anything, but the thread will probably be closed.

Except that it is definitely looked down upon and against the rules on ENWorld to distribute illegal materials. At least take the link down.

EDIT: By the Gods, Jdvn1, that's TWICE in the same thread in about ten minutes that we've posted near the exact same thing at the exact same time. This is getting a bit worrying...

oh and Im straight out of the bush, can you tell me what iird, srd all mean?

IIRC - If I remember correctly
SRD - System Reference Document. The d20 ruleset that's posted online (on the WotC site, and several other places). It's fundamentally the core of the D&D rules, but with certain bits removed (most notably the rules on character creation, and intellectual property of WotC's, such as character names, deity names, and certain monsters, as you've discovered.) If you're writing Open Game Content (OGC) products, these are the rules that you're supposed to be using.

Well, now Thorn has to take down the link too.

It would seem shaky legal grounds for WOTC to complain given that it was them that initially published that [3.0] stat block to the public. The Wayback Machine likely has it stored.

OGL is Open Gaming License. If something is covered by the OGL, that means it's part of the public domain and anyone can use it. The OGL covers OGC.

The SRD is OGC and can be found ... if you go to the EN World frontpage, click on the Gaming Toolbox thing and then go to "Look up the Rules!" That's the SRD.

I like this stat block for the Beholder:
Beholder
AC 10
HP 1
Fuzzy and cute, the Beholder shoots gold pieces and experience points from his single eye.
And WotC may have printed it, but it's still illegal now.

System Reference Document, not Standard Rules. The definition is accurate, though.
