Lo-Kag looks at Alexia with new found respect. "Way to go fangs! Maybe when this is all over we can go out for a drink. I'll even buy." He grins at her showing his pointy teeth.

Alexia stares at Lo-Kag, first in confusion and then in horror as she realizes what he's referencing. "No, no that's just, that's not, no..." she trails off, for once at a loss for words.

Gurdan's face shows a measure of distaste as he watches the interchange between Alexia and Lo-Kag.

"Let's not forget why we're here. What happened to Gurdis? Anybody find anything? Blasted 'forged!" Gurdan kicks hard at one of the fallen machines, stubbing his toe in the process.

"!@#$"

(Perception 23 - darn)

Lo-Kag, at the sound of Gurdan's words, breaks away from the hypnotic trance he was in with Alexia. "Oh...yes, Gurdan. We must continue our quest." He takes one more peek look at Alexia, then sighs, and then goes about looking for clues.

ooc:

Alexia notices Gurdan's expression and her gaze drops to the ground. A moment later her eyes flit up to meet Riel's. "Yes, but... give me a minute."

She walks to the edge of the clearing, facing away from the carnage. Closing her eyes, she holds her rosary to her breast and begins to sing softly. Both calming and mournful, it's not entirely clear whether the song supposed to be a lullaby or a dirge. It sounds like the musical equivalent of drowning in warm water.

[sblock=In other words...]Short rest + Song of Rest. Anyone who spends a healing surge regains an additional 4 hp. I will spend one surge to get up to 46/48 hp and drop down to 6/10 surges.[/sblock]

When the song finishes, Alexia turns back to the center of the clearing. Her features have softened, her irises have returned to their usual gray, and her canines have retracted to their previous length. Although, now that you think about it, they were always slightly pronounced. She moves to where the portal opened, pointedly avoiding the gaze of any of the party.

"Right, let's go. How do we open this?"

[sblock=ooc]I guess that last question was really aimed at Kalidrev.[/sblock]

[sblock=Down the rabbit hole] Thinking back to the end of that frantic battle, Alexia remembers seeing the warforged grab one of the branches on the tree nearest to the hole that opened up. Now all you need to do is figure out which branch that was... ;)

ooc: Perception or Nature? You know what? I'll just roll both. Bleh. Passive Perception 19, Passive Nature (*whistles innocently*) of 15.

[sblock=THB] I would never imply that you have done anything manipulative towards the game that would put things in your own favor, ya cheatin' cheater ;) Nah, all's good. I happen to like the idea of passive <insert skill here>. It can make the game go a LOT easier for us DMs by doing that. Granted, I wouldn't use it in all situations, but is some, yeah, passive skills other than insight and perception are a major go to of mine. [/sblock]

Walking over to the appropriate tree, Alexia scans the branches for a moment before spotting a small flash of metal near the base of one of the shorter branches. Yanking downward, the camouflaged portal opens up just large enough for each of you to fit in one at a time. Looking down, all the bard can see is darkness, and a dank earthy smell greets her nostrils.
