Second power to a stone of alarm

I just gave my 2nd-level PCs their first magic item: a stone of alarm. I want to add a minor secondary power to it, and I'd like to hear your suggestions.

The stone was activated to alarm a treasure chest that had been hidden in the sewers. Specifically, it was in the accumulating chamber for the alchemical waste of the magical university. Over time, the vapours from the acidic waste fused the stone to the coins it was piled atop, and it absorbed some of their properties. There were mostly copper coins, but also a few silver and gold.

Some ideas I've had so far: (copper is associated with healing)
1) Double natural healing rates in the alarm radius when the stone is activated.
2) Cast cure light wounds on everybody who sleeps 8 hours in its area of effect.

I'd love to hear your ideas!

How about a random effect per night per person?
Or just per night, or something.
1d6
1: Heal 1d8+1 points of damage as Cure Light Wounds
2: +2 Deflection bonus for the first 4 hours after waking up.
3: Detect thoughts for the first 4 hours after waking up.
4: +1 to hit and +1 vs fear effects for the first 4 hours after waking up.
5: Nothing happens.
6: Bad dreams, -1 to hit, -1 vs fear effects for the first 4 hours after waking up.

I like that idea too...but I would probably drop the Detect Thoughts... most of the other benefits or flaws...are much harder to trace back to the item. (cause they can be easily blamed on something else)

I'm willing to bet that Arkham added the detect thoughts as a possible result because a copper piece is the material component for a detect thoughts spell. ("Penny for your thoughts.")

That is it exactly.

Detect thougthts might be explained as some sort of shared dream. Characters would get some sort of combination of all the sleepers aims and subconcious thoughts

I really like the dream idea. I'm planning on using Wizard's free adventure, Thicker Than Water, and there's a dream event in there. That'd be an easy way to share it with the entire group.

Dream Link

The dream link could make the whole party wake if anyone detected someone. It could make it easier for communion with outside forces.

It could also mean that characters with something to hide don't want to sleep around that fire. :)
