I just finished putting together what I believe is the first what I understand is the second D&D 4th edition adventure, Second Son. This adventure uses the monster statistics, rules sheet, and characters released at the D&D Experience.

Enjoy!

Hey there Mike, I've enjoyed the blog. But I think it's kept you a bit busier than others; you're the second one on these forums to write and post an adventure. Two though is certainly quite good.

Just wanted to say that before I read the adventure; I think your blog will have made you a bit of a minor celebrity.

Mike! Haven't read it yet. But first of all I wanted to thank you for your blog - though it costed me some sleepless nights :) .
Oh! And the adventure - it's great that you've used Dungeon Tiles in it. I'd love WotC adventure writers to do the same.
Thanks again.

It looks good. The maps are nice and clear, and it's a pretty sequential looking adventure, which is good for an intro to the system. The one thing I wonder about is what happens when the Shadar-Kai Chainfighter goes insubstantial. Immune to anything that targets AC or Reflex, maybe?

I'm looking forward to running it.

One question, Mike. Why do you always use less then six 600 XP of enemie? I though 100 XP for each party member was default compisition. Wouldn't the PC just squish them in no time? You know more about it - so could you please explain?

Difficulty

I didn't base it on the experience of the creatures. I tried to base it on the difficulty I saw at D&D Experience. As it is, the monsters are often stronger in just about every way than the PCs, so there are fewer of them. I can't imagine filling out with too many more or we'd see a lot more dead players.

I'll be actually play testing it on Thursday. If it needs any tuning, I'll tune it then. If you play it out before me, please let me know what you find.

Wow, those are some really powerful monsters!

Let me know how it goes and if you re-balance. I am planning on trying this on Friday eve with our group. I was at the show and played a bunch of 4E, I really wanted to let those who couldnt go have a chance to check out 4E. :)
