Secondary Attack Penalties in Beast Shape?

I read in Druid Handbook Part 2 - Pathfinder_OGC that in Beast Shape, you don't have secondary attacks, just multiple primary attacks, such as-

Cheetah's bite and two claws (all three to be rolled at highest BAB).

Is this true? Does that mean a standard action attack is identical to a full round attack?

Also, any pointers on off-setting the low AC of a Wild Shape form? My level-5 druid has 20 AC, but in Wild Shape 18. In an epic campaign, this sounds dangerous.

Yes, you only get 1 attack with each natural weapon, the benefit to this is that an animal could have 8+ attacks, and secondary attacks are made at only -5 (if this is your third attack, that is 5 higher then a normal third attack)

A standard attack is still just 1 attack with 1 primary weapon (a full is when you use all your claws and bites and tentacles and tails)

To offset the low AC, try the Barkskin spell (handy and it will not go away after a transform) and if you have natural spell you can do it after transforming. Another way is to use wild armor wild property allows you to use its full AC bonus (Leather: +2 and the enhancement the armor had) during wild shape.

In an epic level campaign you should have a lot more gear though. Your armor will have the wild enhancement which allows you to add your armor bonus in wildshape form. Do that for your shield also. Getting full plate dragonhide armor will help also. Rings of protection, and amulet of natural armor will help. I would take the craft wondrous item feat to combine the amulet of mighty fist with the one for natural armor.
The belt that raise your strength and dex at a minimum is also need.

We got 10.5k to start, which I used to buy:

Druid's Vestment (+1 wild shape/day), ring of protection +1, dragonhide armor, a shield, and a belt of strength (+2).

I'm thinking however of just getting Wild Hide for ~9000 and then biting the bullet on getting any other useful equipment. I just don't know if my attack rolls will be any good considering the -5 on secondary attacks.

Basically it's:

21 AC with full attack of +9/+4/+4 (+5 damage bonuses)
wild shape 1/day

versus

18 AC with full attack of +10/+5/+5 (+6 dmg bonuses)
wild shape 2/day

It's the loss of that extra wild shape that kills me the most.

Ask our DM if you may take multiattack, it will reduce secondary attacks to -2 (your attack at higher AC would be +9/+7/+7) and you are still coming out ahead compared to the fighter (+9 - +11 most likely with no extra attacks)

As for AC, Bark Skin is still your best hope for improving it (+2 atm, +3 at 6th level)

Greater Magic Fang can be used to catch up to the fighter damage wise (you already beat them in 2 hit)
