Oathbound all the way! :)

*expects no less* Go get'em Brannon! :)

CSB046,

There will be a paladins/monks handbook. I just don't believe it will be out in time for 2003. But I could be wrong. I don't know anything but tenative release dates on the other Player's Guides. From what I could see, they were spacing them out two to three months from each guide. Thus it goes Feburary, May, August, November. They might move them up to only two months, but I could be wrong. Also if the other guides sell well, there's a possibility that in 2004, (possibility mind you!), there will be a Psions/Psychic Warriors Player's Guide. So please understand that they will cover the core classes from the SRD/PHB. But it's uncertain (from what I know), that the Paladins and Monks book will be out in 2003 or not.

Thanks, Nightfall.

Because all the ads I saw only showed the four books you mentioned (with those really COOL character pictures...hope those are the covers), I just assumed those books were all there were.

It didn't dawn on me that the ads might be limited to only the books in the series slated for 2003.

Thanks again for clarifying a bit.

Not a problem CSB046. Btw...where did you see the covers for them? (See I get the perninent info but I miss all the COOL art stuff! sighs) Btw it's entirely possible those will be the cover arts. (Not 100% sure, but usually if you find it on Amazon, as I do, that's what the cover will be. )

I've seen ads in two recent places:

Issue #34 (December 2002) of Game Trade Magazine, inside front cover. This is not the most recent issue, but the one before it.

A new catalog from White Wolf, issue #1 (dated January to March, 2003). It's a "split" catalog. Half is called White Wolf Quarterly and covers Vampire, Mage, etc. Flip it over and the other half is labeled Sword & Sorcery Insider and covers the d20 stuff. Each section has some small writeups on upcoming products, as well as a tenative January to June release schedule

Game Trade supposedly sells for $1.99, but my local stores often give it away free; the other catalog was on the White Wolf shelf and was specifically marked as free.

The pictures might be the covers. Each picture features two well-drawn characters (three for the wizards, bards, and sorcerors book) and the title "The Player's Guide to [insert classes]: A Core Rulebook." For some reason, they just REALLY captured my attention, so kudos to the ad department for doing a good job!

Mmm have to stop by my gaming store on Tuesday to see that. (They don't work on Mondays. Go figure.)

Btw CSB046, I will say, much like all the S&SS release dates, those are tenative dates. They shuffle them around a lot, based on WW stuff and other S&SS affliates stuff, (Necromancer Games, Malhavoc and whenever they put out Ravenloft stuff.)

Try Codex Arcanis from Paradigm Concept.

What you wanted:
- gritty or dark fantasy
Human gods who allow worshipers of all alignments, so the god of disease is a healer in one town and a plague bearer in the next and the god of oaths is also the god of demons.

The humans and their gods practiced genocide on the elves and the whole Dwarven race is cursed. And a whole nation of necromancers and vampires exists.

- lots of different cultures for PCs
Swedish, Polish, Roman, Mongolian, Ren. Italy, Lizardmen who favor Ranger class, and an African nation that likes clockwork.

- exotic and dangerous wilderness areas "where no man/orc/dwarf/whatever has gone before" (or at least for the past 300+ years)
The “Blessed Lands” are filled with ruins. There is a salt flat that becomes a sea once a year and many other places were abandoned after the Demon Wars. Humanity was saved only because their last true Emperor prayed for a wall of mountains to keep the demons out.

- high compatibility with "standard" WotC stuff (spells, PrCs, etc.) /B]
Check

- interesting "toys" (magic items, steampunk stuff, flying ships, whatever
Check out P.C.’s “Forged in Magic” supplement. It has gotten good reviews on ENWorld.

- good pre-made adventures, especially if they form a series or part of a campaign.
see below.

What you hated:
- strong metaplots
They have three interlinked adventures, which got good reviews, but the world is still standing.

- Elminster-type NPCs
check

– Kender & certain gnomes
No Kender and gnomes are a twisted half breed race that is reviled by most cultures and must use illusions to even survive.
