Sell me on a setting

*sung to the tune of Finland by Monty Python, with apologies ;) *

Bluffsides, Bluffsides, Bluffsides,
The setting where I want to be,
Pony trekking or campaigning,
Or just watching the sea.
Bluffsides, Bluffsides, Bluffsides.
It's the setting for me.

You're so near to Kirkland,
So far from the Empire of the Dragon Sands.
Quite a long way from Faerun,
Lots of miles from Oerth.

Bluffsides, Bluffsides, Bluffsides,
The setting where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Bluffsides, Bluffsides, Bluffsides.
Bluffsides has it all.

{snip. It's too bad for me to keep going, but if you're anything like me, you're now cursed with this tune in your head!}

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. The reason I didn't include Midnight on the list is because I've pretty much already decided to buy Midnight, when I get around to it. However, the Unapproachable East and Ghostwalk are both settings that look potentially interesting, but which I'm very much on the fence about. After all, I've got almost half a dozen D&D books already on my list to buy, and I do have other hobbies as well to compete for my "hobby fund."

Wow, look at all the stupid fanboys, he asks about Ghostwalk and the Unapproachable East, and you lot can't stop foaming at the mouth long enough to read his post.

Ghostwalk vaguely reminds me of that 2nd edition Ravenloft box, was it Requiem or Grim Harvest? The one where the apparent goal of the set was to kill off the party and raise them as undead, so you could become a zombie fighter or a skeletal thief or a wraith mage. That seemed cool to me, Ghostwalk leaves me kind of cold: it's a setting where ghosts are solid and walk around like they're not even dead. Only they might get new powers for being dead. Eh.

Unfortunately, I know even less about the Unapproachable East, being disinterested in FR material of all types, so I can't say much about that.

Emiricol -- I love that sig file image! One of my favorite Sunday strips ever. I sure do miss Bloom County. Unfortunately, younger readers probably won't get anything in there -- it's the most topical cartoon I've ever read.

Anyhoo -- please don't let DanMcS's reply put anyone off. I'd like to get the discussion I asked for, not a rancorous exhange of insults, if at all possible.

Yes, I was reading a few of the strips from the first year of the comic, and it was full of subtle cold war humor, and politicians who are mostly died of old age now :)

If you are up in the air between UE and GW, my opinion would be to go for GW. It has a nice, unique tone and an interesting premise. UE is nice, but the subject matter is not really new.
