Pathfinder 1E Sell me on Pathfinder!

Change that to "mechanics supported by fluff" and I think your accuracy rating rises signficantly.

I love my game mechanics. The Pathfinder Core Rulebook is fairly fluff-free and downplays Golarion influences. The rest of the Pathfinder line freely mixes crunch and fluff.

I meant what I said. The Angriest Backstroke In The World (TM) is a good example here. As is Bards Can Only Sing for One Minute per Day. Paizo do not appear to be good at mechanics, but produce superb fluff.

Oh I had no doubt that you meant it the way you stated it. However, my phrasing is a bit easier to demonstrably illustrate than your overt slam.

Seriously, just because you don't like some of the mechanics you know for a fact that game mechanics are a secondary concern to Paizo and that the game designers care about fluff over crunch? 'Cause it would seem counterproductive to me to develop a ton of fluff for a game no one wanted to play.

Given that the Pathfinder RPG line is one of the pillars of their business plan and attempts to limit Golarion-specific content to the other lines, your assessment as originally written lacks a certain objective analysis.

You can certainly cite all of the mechanics-related issues you have with the game but even having done so, you won't have proven that they intentionally sacrifice sound game mechanics for an increased emphasis on setting fluff. You'll merely have illustrated why the mechanics don't work for you.

That's certainly an honest POV, although I find it a curious one to post in a "Sell Me on Pathfinder" thread. While the OP asks for an ID of the good and bad, the summary is "In short, what makes Pathfinder a good choice?"

I bought the Pathfinder RPG because it's an excellent design. I don't like Golarion gnomes or a lot of the fluff. I don't even like the art very much. I'm not super happy with the power upgrade for PC classes, but I can live it.

Pathfinder delivers the D&D experience I prefer, with a fairly elegant skills system, unified combat mechanics, flavorful class features, and a wide mix of monsters I find appealing to include in my games.

I can't really sell you on Pathfinder because, well, my group tried it and decided it wasn't for us. We went back to other games.

You can still play 3.5 even if you don't have the books. All the rules you need are in the SRD. There's even an easily searchable format at d20srd.org. I use it and love it.
