Send Hellhound to Jail Fund (Hellhound keep out bwahaha)

Hi All.

Just wanna tell you about another small thing i'll be doing (well attempting to do) at gencon this year!

Most of you repeat congoers can probably remember the Klingon Jail. The Klingon Jail is a bunch of dudes dressed as Klingons who will find a "criminal" and jail them in a giant jail cell at the con. They even read a list of crimes.

I belive that it costs 5$/5 minutes to hold someone in jail.

All the procedes usually go to some charity.

Last year, I tossed in 20$ to jail Hellhound and The Gelflings for a good 10 minutes. I even have pictures! somewhere...

Inspired by last years drive started by the Code Monkeys and Mynex to jail Leopold for hours, I'd like to start a fund to Jail Hellhound!

Oh the Hilarity!

If permitted by the Ennies crew, i'll be leaving an envelope or jar at the Ennies Booth for everyone to make donations and leave "one" suggested crime.
Barring that i'll make arrangements with the Klingons to collect money sepratly till we can jail him.

Maybe we can break last years record (i think its over 4 hours!!).

Who's with me!

I also remember some people last year totally complaining about the extreme cost of getting *out* of said jail.

Really, this is just mean, and not fun at all. Think about it -

You save up your hard-earned money to take the family to GenCon. Hotels run around $130 a night, food for a whole family could easily set you back another $40 a day, and then there's products that you'll be buying, and gas, and tolls, and everything else.

Why should they have to spend another $20 (or more) to get out of jail? Unless they change it, I don't think the Klingons had any time limit on it. So, you literally had to SIT in their jail for a LONG time, before you could get free. Let me ask you - would you want to drive for a day to go to GenCon, only to sit in a jail for hours on end when you could be gaming, or perusing the dealer floor?

Think about that, and then decide how badly you really want to stick someone in their little jail.

I'm all for giving to charity. Let people do it on their own time, and within their own budget.

I would of course "coordinate" with Hellhound on a good time for him to be jailed. I'm sure they allow proxies so people can take turns (i'll gladly sit in there half an hour for him). AND They do allow the Jailer to let them out of prison.

Its a really fun thing, it helps people, and I've never heard anyone complain about being jailed before.

While the ENnie booth is not my responisiblity, I wouldn't set up donations there. WE are going to have a variety of people working different shifts and it will be too easy for something to happen. Plus I don't think that watching and asking for donations is really a responsibility the people volunttering for the booth need.

How about the 'Send Ryan to GenCon' fund? *sheepish grin*

While on the subject, we should mention the 'send ash to GenCon' fund too! :p

Seriously though, i would be damn sure that Hellhound would take it all in good fun...He is a busy man during GenCon, and the last time I went, he had his kids and wife there. I know that its supposed to be fun, but there are alot of things I would rather be doing then sitting in the jail during GenCon.
Not that you would not be upfront, but let him know specifics, with a time frame. Its the only polite thing to do...when you put someone in jail. :D

Second that. I don't want any $ to be sitting in the ENnies booth on my watch. Using the booth to collect $ for a single persons idea of fun isn't a good idea.

I personally thought the whole "Jail" thing was ridiculous last year, and I'd raise hell if anyone tried to put me there when I paid good money to come meet friends and play games.

Hand of Evil, you're a genius!

Send Hellhound to a Strip Club! Much better idea. And heck, if we do this, he might end up in jail anyway. *wink*

Not sure how pleased Denise would be, though. *grin*
