Did anyone download the d20 Septentrionalis Campaign files that used to be available? They don't seem to be up any more.

From what I understand Septeptrionalis was pulled as a download from its website by its creator with the view to re release the setting as a published campaign setting/d20 rules.

But its been awhile and Ive heard no info regarding a release.

Gotcha. I wish that the guy had left it up like Chris Dolnut did for "Nyambe", though. The Nyambe free PDF was available for a long time after they announced that a for-sale print version would be coming out. I downloaded the first two Sept. PDFs but had just never gotten around to getting the rest of them.

Plenty.
As I write this, Septentrionalis is being edited for publication as a 256-page hardcover campaign book. The publisher is a well-known outfit who also publishes award-winning card games and non-d20 RPGs. No publication date yet, but definitely not this year -- we're planning on a full year of promotion first, which may involve any of the following:
--a dedicated "designer's notebook" section on the publisher's web site
--Septentrionalis demos at your favorite local game store
--fully playable Septentrionalis mini-adventures available via PDF

That's as of January 19th, so hopefully this spring. I had the opportunity to play Septentrionalis this past fall at ENWorld Boston with Doug, the designer, and it was a blast. I'm really looking forward to this book.

"I just finished my long-standing project of reading the ENTIRE Northern Crown manuscript so I can get revision comments to the author, Doug Anderson. In case you hadn't heard, Northern Crown: New World Adventures (formerly Septentrionalis) is our upcoming D20 world set in colonial North America ... witches, wendigo, the First Ones prophet Tenskwatawa, what more could you want? What was that? You want it to incorporate the best parts of Nyambe, too? Hmmm ... I'll see what I can do. "

Here's the straight story:
Northern Crown: New World Adventures is slated for an early 2005 release from Atlas Games. Michelle Nephew has already completed a close edit of the manuscript (at nearly 300,000 words, a monumental effort) and the ball is back in my court for final edits and revisions. It looks like I will also be illustrating it.

For those of you unfamiliar with it, Northern Crown is a campaign setting for d20 System adventures in an alternate-history early colonial America, with a time frame of 1600-1800, a swashbuckling/baroque setting with monsters, magic, and "sailpunk" science-fiction. I have run it as a campaign since 1997, with material appearing on the web as early as 1998. A free PDF appeared on my site in 2002, but has since been withdrawn, being by now extremely incomplete and out-of-date compared with the new manuscript.

The published product will include 3.5e versions of the popular gunpowder and renaissance martial arts rules from the old PDF, the witch and natural philosopher core classes, several new core classes and prestige classes, and a greatly expanded set of cultural backgrounds for PCs including four native American cultures, a Nyambe-based culture, and many Euro-based cultures.

Entirely new sections will include new magic spells and items, treasure tables, encounter tables, lots of monsters and high-level NPCs, feats, weapons, armor, equipment, and a huge gazetteer with nearly 200 locations stuffed full of adventure hooks, descriptions, and NPCs.

In the meantime, I'm going to be putting up a web page on atlas-games.com with previews, artwork, and a free introductory mini-adventure -- look for it sometime soon.
