My daughter is 5 and thinks Sesame Street is boring.
I think your daughter is brainwashed by Barney. You must quickly de-program her.

reveal is right. Something like Sesame Street can be a helpful tool to teach health to our children. The sooner you begin to teach them in their youth, the easier their adult life will be for them.

Cookie Monster counting carrots instead of cookies will do nothing to make kids go eat carrots instead of cookies.

Cookie Monster counting carrots instead of cookies will reduce the magnatism of the skit to young kids and reduce the tendency to accidently learn to count while they paying attention to Cookie Monster's yummy food.

There is nothing wrong with change. But counter productive change that undermines a long established successful thing is plain stupid.

You'd be amazed at how much kids will emulate characters on tv.

If you don't change you don't grow. SS has changed many times throughout it's 30 year run. This is simply one of those changes.

People can see Snufflupagus? Sacrilege, I say! Blasphemy!

I got to meet Bob from Sesame Street at a book signing a few years ago and asked him about this. (Very cool experience :) ) He told me that the reason they "revealed" Snufflupagus to the world was because they didn't want kids to think that their parents wouldn't believe things they'd say like the people on Sesame Street didn't believe Big Bird about Snufflupagus' existence.

Granted, it's a bit disappointing as a D&D geek to see an impossible to see "mythological creature" suddenly become common-place, but I don't think Snufflupagus' archetype was ever meant to be that deep. :p

What ever happened to that Captain Vegetable muppet? That's one I distinctively remember from my childhood. I don't know if it ever got me to eat more vegetables, but he had a catchy song.

They shouldn't bring Cookie down like that. He shouldn't be a good role-model! That's the point! Soon enough, they'll be giving Oscar anti-depressants...

Demiurge out.
