reveal is right. Something like Sesame Street can be a helpful tool to teach health to our children. The sooner you begin to teach them in their youth, the easier their adult life will be for them.
Parenting is not a "sometimes" job. You don't hope that they pick up lessons from Cookie Monster if you think it's really important; you teach them yourself.

In all seriousnees, you're my new hero and I proclaim you "Official Voice of Reason for ENWorld". Can I send this post to all of the parents of the students I teach?

Parents can use Cookie Monster as a learning tool just as flashcards, games and toys are also used as learning tools. Yes, it's an important lesson that parents should teach their children but why not get help doing it. What's so wrong with that?

For some reason people want to jump and yell that Cookie Monster is changing because they think that Sesame Street is changing into some tv show where they try to teach everything to children and take the "parenting" out of the hands of the parent. That certainly is one way to view it. There are a lot of parents who like to let tv do that. But I think people are missing the fact that Sesame Street has always been an educational program. It's been used by parents and educators for 30 years to teach children.

SS is not an educational solution. It is simply a tool.

Even from a young age, I always thought that Cookie Monster was a good example of "too much of a good thing." It's joked about all the time but the character is basically a junkie and a warning. Feel free to disagree but I like the character as is. He's entertaining and a good example to use for kids as long as you are paying attention.

It should be noted that I do not have children of my own and have not watched the show in years. When I do have kids I reserve the right to change my opinion. :)

I think you would be more shocked by other changes to the show.

Getting worked up over something like this is what blogs were designed for I guess - Ive encountered 10 so far that rant about the change to cookie monster.
