Seven Essential Books (change your answers)

  • Fiend Folio
  • Manual of the Planes
  • Epic-Level Handbook
  • MMII or Expanded Psionics Handbook (I'd probably flip a coin)

Star Wars d20 Revised
d20 Modern
One D&D campaign setting (probably Eberron, but there ar e a lot of good ones)
And the XPH, if the campaign setting is Eberron, because Eberron without Kalashtar psions is wrong...

I'm not a rules guy so my top books (post core) are:

Midnight 2nd edition
Living Greyhawk Gazeteer
Fading Suns
Scarred Lands Ghelspad

Varangian

This is surprisingly tough. AE and M&M were easy choices, but it was tough to narrow down the other two.

Arcana Evolved
Mutants & Masterminds 2e
Savage Worlds
Ars Magica

If I didn't have to take the D&D core rulebooks, I'd ditch the PH and DMG, and take Iron Heroes and the AE Spell Treasury (when it comes out) instead.

Eberron Campaign Setting
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
Libris Mortis

maybe, maybe Stormwrack. Its at home waiting for me to crack it open for the first time. I really really want to like that book. I just love sea adventures.

I'd like to include Complete Warrior, as well. See how I like Stormwrack

If homebrew information doesn't count, it would go like this...

DMG II
Unearthed Arcana
Monster Manual II
Expanded Psionic Handbook
Relics & Rituals
Stormwrack

And either...

Book of Erotic Fantasy

or

Sandstorm

To hell with the 'core 3'.

I'd choose:

Rules Cyclopedia D&D rules.
Gaz 1 "Grand Duchy of Karameikos"
C&C PHB
C&C Monsters and Treasures Book
The new Castle Zagyg book
WFRP (2e) core rules
WFRP (2e) bestiary

3 great games ... for loads of desert island fun!

Seven? Arr, that be killin' me. If they have to be RPG books, then maybe:

The complete* d20 SRD, nicely set out and bound.
Earthdawn Classic (maybe - don't own this yet; this is just a whimsical optimistic 'vote').
Beast Builder
CoC
some book of the planes or other.. not sure which one.
some large-scale sci-fi system... not sure about this one either.
All my house rules & setting notes, all in one place, printed and so on.

* inc. d20 Modern etc.

If they didn't have to all be RPG books, I'd include some whopping great hardcover monster of a world history book (if there's a good one out there), and at least one or two other bloody big non-rpg resources.
