Shackled City, Age of Worms or Savage Tide?

Cats,

Best way to find the "adventure path" is to look on GG's website and find one of the free downloads for the Game world. That has ideas that might work for you.

You know, I've run through much of Savage Tide so far with three PCs. Granted, they're a bit overpowered, but not overly so. WE haven't had a single casualty yet (come close, though). We have four PCs now, though - and we're doing alright.

I haven't run the other AP's, but ST is an *AWESOME* campaign so far, and it gets better and better. I'm currently on the second adventure, and we're just having a blast. While I have a few complaints, they're minor and very easy to fix. I highly recommend the campaign.

Is Savage Tide a piratey, swashbuckling style adventure or is it simply a coastal, island based fantasy adventure?

Freeport was a former pirate city, but the trilogy played out more like standard D&D fare (though it was VERY good).

Hi,

I've read the first two episodes: it's more like Freeport than a real piratey game. However, I'm running Skull & Bones at the moment so I would say that. It does look very good so far though.

If you run an AP, remember that the Shackled City AP is for 6 players whereas the other 2 are for 4 players.

Are they though?

I believe the Life's Bazaar issue of Dungeon (1st adventure of Shackled City) states that it was designed for 4 characters. In the hardcover they say 6 characters. I've heard the other two AP's are tougher yet, so I wouldn't be suprised if they were for 6 characters as well.

I was going off of the hardcover, which says 6 PC's. It may have been that they were originally for 4 characters in the magazine. I haven't compared the magazine adventures with the hardcover to see if they actually changed anything to make the HC adventures more suited to 6 characters or not though.

Yeah I too was going off the hardcovers since unlike AoW or ST, you don't have to lug around so darn much, just one HC with all that you need.

In any case, ST is kind of piratey but no more than Freeport as someone said. Even so, Cats, I'd again recommend you trying out the GG's DCC's AP and see how that goes. After all, it offers some very interesting ways of tying many different modules together.

Well, I ended up starting the Savage Tide AP.

We have the following party:

1. A reserved, and disciplined Human Male Swordsage 1 (LN),
2. Gruff, overweight, Make Dwarf Cleric of Moradin 1 (LN),
3. Amazon-like, jealous, Human Female Barbarian 1 (NG) (she likes the swordsage, and FYI, will move into Dragon Shaman at 2nd level)
4. Sexy Female Elf Beguiler 1 (N).

I decided to houserule an extra skill point per level, and an extra feat at 1st level to help out the newbies and maybe deal with the difficulty factor of the AP.

The first session was mostly character creation, RP and getting their feet wet in Sassarine. They are about to tackle the Blue Nixie for the beginning of the next session.

It looks like it will be a fun time!

Good luck Cats!

If they decide they want something else, I still say go with GG's Adventure paths. There were some interesting ideas on that one.
