D&D 5E Shameless WotC appreciation post

I feel the need to do this, because I think mearls and the people at Wizards are just doing everything right with this roll-out.

We've had the Basic PDF, now updated to v2 following the PHB's release. The PHB itself is extremely good; I'm reading every word cover to cover and I can't remember the last time I did that with a core rule-book. Now, in the absence of a DMG and Monster Manual, to tide us over we have the DM's Basic PDF with everything I need to start planning a campaign and working up the adventures. For those so inclined, D&D is still free to play.

We have a slick new website. We have third-party licensing with interesting market players. We have a commitment to constrained bloat (proof's in the pudding on that one, though).

Which is to say nothing of the new system, which plays extremely well.

Well done guys, seriously. :)

I agree, they deserve a huge applause. It's nice to see that a lot of people are actually quite satisfied how Wizards handled the new edition.

The old school gamer in me really loves that the new game in 2014 uses the Forgotten Realms as its default setting. I just think it's great that they chose one of the three settings that dates all the way back to 1st Edition. It's 1987 all over again! :D
