You buy something from Amazon.com, give some email addresses of some friends that might also want to purchase it, and Amazon emails them offering a discount if they purchase that item within a certain amount of time, usually a week or so, I think.

It's just a 10% off for purchasing a book 'recommended' by a friend. Too bad I couldn't get Draconomicon at the 60% off it had a while back, so now I'm a bit troubled at what to get to finish my order...
