Sharing A Proud Feeling

Nighthawk

First Post
It's late night/early morning. I have come home from a lengthy D&D session. It was a memorable and eventful time, one I am pleased to have been a part of.
It was nothing noteworthy or special in terms of foreshadowing, just enjoyable at the time of occurrence and shortly afterwards.

The playing group I am a part of (as a player) successfully performed a potentially explosive hostage rescue mission. We did so with few casualties, minimal property damage, and excellent distractions and improvisations. There was combat of the creative and intensive sort. It involved political and personal objectives. All six of the players were directly involved and had important contributions to make and went out and did so. The gamemaster was skilled and fluid with the session, making for a good time to be had by all.

This is, most likely, a silly post on my part, but I feel very proud of the playing group right now. It was a night to remember in terms of fun, cooperation, and success.

Have any others experienced sessions like this?

I love this feeling. Not just when the dice are hot, but when you use teamwork and cleverness to succeed - that's fun.

Agreed. Overall, the session went well with some bumps in the road, but we made it work despite ourselves. :D

I think what really added to it is that we had to be careful as to who we fought and not slay at will, so to speak. It added suspense when such was unlooked for.

More power to you! Sessions in which everybody gets to star are terrific. We have one of those in our group every once in a while. Recently, a battle with a black dragon proved to be one of those "great" sessions- each character used their specialties to fight- The Paladin rode around on his Giant Eagle mount/cohort, the elven duelist attempted to ride the dragon (twice!), and the druid teleported everywhere using his Cape of the Montebank (one of those rare magic items that add more to the character than the stats).
