Shield vs. Grapple

I told my buddy that I would post this even though I am fairly certain of the answer. Does the shield spell apply as AC against touch attacks, grapple included?

Yes it does. Touch attacks ignore armor bonuses and natural armor bonuses. A shield spell provides cover, which helps defend against the initial grab that must be made to start a grapple.
