Shifter questions

A friend of mine and I were discussing the Dreamsight Elite feat. It talks about a full round action to increase perception, but then describes things that you gain while shifting. The question is, do you need to take a full round action to activate it?

I read it as a typo, as the first sentance can be removed and the entire feat makes sense still, and it doesn't specificly state it requires the full round action. The friend says it needs it and is pretty clear about it.

On another side, is the Beasthide shifter AC bonus natural armor? The text:

and natural armor that provides +2 bonus to AC
Looks like an untyped bonus, but it's muddled by that natural armor reference. The next quesion is, if it's untyped, does it provide a touch ac bonus?

My guess is that you shift as normal, but while shifted, you can activate this extra ability as a full round action. Look at the other feats around there. To paraphrase, they say while shifting you gain an ability. This one says, while shifting you can activate an ability with this type of action.

Again, my guess is the intent is for it to be a natural armor bonus. Even if it isn't considered that, it shouldn't qualify as a touch AC bonus, IMO.

It is a natural armor bonus, as further evidenced by the Beasthide Elite feat.

Yep, that's definitely what it is. Which is a pity, really, since the feat would be worthless even if you didn't have to spend a FRA to activate it and is borderline insulting when you do. I mean, the ability to see the invisible things last for like 5 or 6 rounds. So obviously, you used it to react to some invisible thing that started sneak attacking you or something. Except at that point, you also have to not only waste your shift for the day, which is the race's only saving grace after harsh ability penalties to the mental stats a Dreamsight would probably want, but you also have to spend longer activating the ability than if you had just let your caster throw a Glitterdust and just let the whole bloody party see the invisible creature for longer.
