Shorter adventure paths

We provide suggestions on how you can run WotBS in five different ways. Each variant requires a little juggling of geography or narrative focus, but all provide a nice quest story arc.

Epic Saga - Adventures 1 to 12. You fight a war and become great heroes.
You had me at "hello".

I've had a ton of fun running WotBS from 1 to 3 (so far). You can muck about with the story as RangerWickett describes, but I feel you owe it to yourself to run it from start to finish.

There's also the West Wood Barony path from Fiery Dragon.

NeMoren's Vault
Quest for Amelia
Himrak War Party
The Silver Summoning

It's short and low-level. From there you can segue into Swords Against Deception, if desired. NMV and QfA got bundled into NeMoren's Vault Revisited and updated to 3.5. The pursuit system in TSS got updated in the first BattleBox.

NeMoren's Vault was fun when I ran it back in 3e (except that one PC was a bard who wanted to not carry a weapon; kinda hard to fight a (spoiler) with just a violin).

Klaus, by the way, is one of the primary artists for War of the Burning Sky, which is a big reason why it's so awesome.

You, sir, I like.

The Fiery Dragon Path lets the PCs:

- Inherit a base of operations;
- End a curse over a town;
- Solve a decades-old murder;
- Restablish a noble house;
- Fight orc spies;
- Attend a diplomatic wedding;
- Pursue a criminal across the land;
- Fight in a battle akin to Helm's Deep.

What's the adventure about?

It's a 1st-level adventure that is perfect for getting the party together. Each PC has come across a silver key (either through inheritance, theft, gambling, whatever) and as one of the key holders, each PC is summoned to the reading of the will of Baron Paytro NeMoren, the last of his house. They are then shown to NeMoren's Manor and the sealed off Vault underneath it, where the riches (and secrets) of Baron Paytro (and the body of the legendary founder of the line, Kragor NeMoren, and his descendants) lie.
