Should I hurt my DM for....

It's loot. As a side note, I really don't need a spellbook. I have the Last Book, for crying out loud. (Admittedly, I can't use most of it still, but it's very, very nice.)

I have about 3 million GP in diamonds and rubies from a part of undermountain the DM didn't expect me to find. I have a really, really wierd staff who's powers I havent managed to unlock most of yet. And I'm lawful good. I'm not familiar with paladin, and I'm not sure I want to sacrifice the potential for higher level wizard capabilities.

It is not a sacrifice. It is a sign from the Divine. It is your destiny. Take up the sword and spellbook, and go out into the land and smite evil wherever you find it.

Plus, think how much good 3 million GP would do if you gave it to charity.

You know, a wizard who turned paladin might be a very interesting character to play. I'll have to consider it the next time I make a new character.

Well, I'd love to play a paladin, but somehow I don't think thats what this DM is going for - he HATES paladins and clerics with a passion bordering on insanity. I might just do it anyway :P. As a side note, I'm about as lawful good as one can be, I could go around town poisoning children and i MIGHT be lawful neutral after 100 died. My character was a mind flayer, lawful evil. He died to save another party member, one who'd accually been very hostile to him. Came back as an elf thanks to a wierd magical effect in Undermountain. Illilsene would NOT be pleased (he died lawful good mind flayer).

Now that is an interesting concept.

BTW: Why does the Dm hate clerics and paladins?

Sounds like a high level game. I'd use it for insurance. Locate the largest LG church in your area and donate the sword. All they have to do is promise a True Resurrection should your character happen to die. You could probably even talk them into an insurance clause - a divination spell once a month to see if you were still alive. If not, they'd bring you back.

So even with a TPK you'll come through alright.

Have you considered the leadership/cohort route?

(Oh, and I also do NOT advocate violance against the DM. Certainly not for giving you such an expensive item.)

Additional questions: Did you travel through undermountain alone? What about the rest of the party? Why did the Wizard end up with the sword if there is a party?

Start picking up as many ranks in Use Magic Device as possible. Then maybe look into the Eldritch Knight PrC.

Nothing says it can't be -your- holy avenger, after all.
