Should we convert the Dukes of Hell?

BEFORE you answer, read my warning below...

BOZ

Creature Cataloguer
Here's what I'm thinking of doing. People have been asking for the Dukes of Hell (Amon, Bael, Titivilus, and a few dozen others) ever since 3E came out. A few of them were converted back in the 3.0 days for the CC, but the project is so big that it never got finished, and then things like the BoVD made the stats mismatching.

I'm planning on writing a query for the Dukes of Hell for Dragon mag (you can see my massive preliminary research in the General RPG chat forum), but even if that article is accepted, there will be flavor text only and no stats. Erik Mona told me that stats aren't likely to happen any time soon with the Demonomicon already running regularly, which is fine.

So, I figured, why not just do the job and put them up our site? Here's the catch though. If I just make them yet another conversion thread alongside all the other conversion threads, it will take a long, long time to get through them all while I work on unrelated monsters. I don't want to do that. The only way I'm going to convert them is if I focus all of my CC time on the Dukes, with that being the only thread I'm maintaining.

So, the question becomes, do we have the Dukes as the only thing we work on for X months (maybe a year or more depending on my schedule/availability), or until we're sick of it? Or should we put this off for another time as having an assortment of different creatures would be better?

I wouldn't say put all our resources into the project... but it sounds like a fun one. One that I'd try to stick around and get a healthy contribution in, even.

Demiurge out.

I think the project pales when you make it too broad. I'd find it far more interesting if you got only one conversion done but it had all the bells and whistles rather than sort of a forced march to complete them all.

I'd say pick your favourite, or one you can build enthusiasm for, and do it but stop when you run out of enthusiasm.

i think it would have to be an all-or-nothing proposition. i feel that i'd have to stop working on other conversions to give them the proper concentration to do them the way i'd want to. i'd like to get them all done rather than just a few, because it feels like a package deal to me.

still, this is nothing i have to do at the moment. i can always save it for another time when i have more free time in my life and don't feel like it would be as difficult to get such a big project done. :)

i'm just putting this idea out there to see what you guys think. it's something i want to do, but it doesn't have to be soon.

I'd want to vote yes, but first of all Boz, since I'm not too familiar with all your projects, what other high-priority conversions do you do? At any rate, I'd like see Titivilus done first. That name just gets to me. :]

not sure what you mean by high-priority? none, maybe?

if you're asking about epic planar lord types, you need look no further than the archomental articles in Draon 347 and 353. :)

Abs-HELL-outly.

Although being rather selfish I would like to see the conversions continuing. Perhaps you/we could convert a Duke of Hell then another creature, then a Duke of Hell etc, rather than running through all the threads at once.

Mortis

Let's give the dukes some attention, and convert them. Though all of them? That would require more pages than just one Dragon Magazine. But perhaps some of the biggies can be done at once.
