Should WoTC try again with Chainmail?

So, let me get this straight: the current proposal is for Wizards to put out a fantasy miniatures wargame, without miniatures, and without tying it to D&D.

What an astonishing concept!

I'm terribly confused as to who would buy this.

Part of my problem with the concept is that its hardly how the market is tending at present. Wizards are doing very well by paying attention to boardgames, and for those who want a D&D wargame, the Conquest of Nerath game is coming up in a couple of months. (Admittedly, I don't have extremely high hopes for it, but then I tend to play more complicated 2-player wargames).

That seems to be the way WOTC is headed. More and more board games. I can guarentee I'll watch that boat sail on by.

Next thing you know D&D will be exclusively a board game. Then cats and dogs, living together........MASS HYSTERIA!!!!

As far as I'm concerned WOTC could liquidate the dungeons and Dragons franchise and sell it off to smaller companies who seem to have a better grasp of what gamers want. Then those smaller companies would get a crack at developing some decent RPG's under the D&D campaign world.

I like what Paizo has done with their Pathfinder miniatures. Maybe they could buy the D&D miniatures rights from WOTC and do it right. NON-RANDOMIZED and a release schedule of one pre-painted miniature every 2 weeks.

Thats just my opinion and we all know opinions are like buttholes......We all have one and they all stink!!!.......
