Should you be able to mix and match Archetype features?

Its time for more ideas from ThroatPunchGames! A new idea everyday! I love archetypes, but feel I get hampered when I want features from different ones. I think you should be able to, but it should cost you something...maybe a feat...

Exchange Archetype-Feat-You may take this feat multiple times. When you take this feat, choose one Archetype ability from any other Archetype then your own. This ability replaces the normal ability of your class and Archetype.

I dont think so. There would be a HUGE potential for abuse. Maybe it would be alright if you took it as a separate class or something though.

Good idea, but some abilities are much more powerful than others. Archetypes are sorted into classes with the intent of keeping characters equal as they progress. Say you have two recipes for completely different entrees. You can't just swap the ingredients and expect the entrees to both be delicious.

Burning a feat, or more, should be used to buy a more powerful ability in place of a weaker one.

Easier solution: multiclass.
