Single question about cleric abilities...

I would imagine so, given that this is cure light wounds. I imagine that a higher level cleric (level 10, let's say) could have CLW (lvl 2 utility), CMW (lvl 6 utility) and CSW (lvl 10 utility). That's three surge free heals per day, plus whatever bonus the higher level prayers will throw in. Being that CLW does scale with the healing surge value, CMW and CSW would have to have either a much larger healing amount (surge x2 and surge x3?) or some very good benefit outside of it.

Then again I could be completely wrong and CMW and CSW may not be in the game. However, if that's the case it seems very strange to call the level 2 power Cure Light Wounds. *shrug*
Yeah, that's interesting. Maybe CMW, CSW, and CCW all heal multiple surges worth at a time? That sounds pretty extreme, though.

Maybe they have bonus healing instead. CMW could add 1d6 to the healed amount, +2d6 for CSW, and +3d6 for CCW. I'm not sure how that fits in with the need for patching up damaged allies, though.

I can't imagine any other effects, though. I mean, they are Cure spells... But maybe they shot that cow, too, and added extra saving throws or status cures onto the later versions.

Now I really want to see how they handled this! Gah, can't wait for the books to come out!

Oh, that would be sweet. It's always been a little odd to me that the cure spells can't cure any ailments. Outside of D&D nobody ever talks about "curing" an injury.

They do in Final Fantasy. ("Curing" effects are covered by spells like Esuna.)

Epic-level character can self-resurrect once per day. I think 1/4 your HP for CLW, 1/2 for CSW, and 3/4 for CCW (CMW is a recent invention) is perfectly reasonable, if you get CSW around level 10 and CCW around level 22. No reason to clump them all together--then you'd have a level 15 cleric who can do nothing but heal with his utility powers.

Better versions of healing potions heal more HP and have rider effects like making saves and reviving the recent dead. Perhaps the better cures will too.

This is because Final Fantasy (by which I mean 1, though to a good extent 3 & Tactics share this), basically is D&D.

Now it would be awesome if one of the cleric-inclined epic destines is a daily interrupt resurrection triggered 'Once per day, when you or an ally within line of sight die'. . .

And to tie that back into my earlier point (being I spend far too much time thinking about old video games): we've seen that Orcus can raise you as an undead if you die fighting him. The above power could have some awesome flavor text matching the way resurrection was described in Diablo (1 fluff) as a ritual taught by angles to the Horridrum in secret before their final assault on a demon who brought their own fallen back from the dead, as a way to tip the scales in a final epic confrontation.
