Phoenix falls unconscious near Rowan as the creatures slam into them tearing with invisible teeth.

Next round - spot and listen checks needed again

Rowan (7/58 hp) - Raging Rowan grabs Phoenix' armor with one hand and drags toward the shelter of the massive mushrooms.

Phoenix (-1/50hp) -

Lookspring (0/37hp)- Hiding in the congested forrest of mushrooms Lookspring watches his companions.

Attacker1 -46 - Moves toward Lookspring but does not leave the clearing.

Attacker2 -0 - Moves toward Lookspring but does not leave the clearing.

The two invisible attackers batter Rowan doing no real damage as he escapes their fury. The attackers then circle in the general vicinity of Lookspring but do not attempt to leave the clearing and no longer bother the adventurers once they are out of the clearing.

OOC: It looks like Rowan has used 12 charges on the wand, which is CLW. I've been keeping track of it on his first post.

I guess Rowan retreated about 30 feet, so Phoenix will be near him, perhaps. If so, he would flee again before healing himself. If Phoenix can't, or doesn't retreat, he will heal himself 1d8+1 from the wand.

ooc: If you want to have Rowan go into Rage I will change the post.
 

Lookspring looks over his shoulder and sees the others fall. Fear clenches his gut. I'll not die in this hole, not for a bunch of savages no matter how much money they offer. He tries to find somewhere to hide until he can use his wand.

OOC: Ouch, looks bad for the home team. I'm going to try to hide this round and draw my wand. Since I'm at 0 I don't think I can do both in a single round. If I can, spiffy, next round I'll heal myself. Otherwise that'll be 3 rounds from now. Lookspring's Hide is +15 if you want to roll it.

OOC: Well, if you're giving me the chance, then yes, Rowan will rage. This gives him 12 additional HPs, bringing him to 7. He'll try to grab Phoenix and split.
 

OOC: Checking in even though it looks like nothing Phoenix can do currently. Couldn't access ENWorld for the last 3 days so I was worried you'd be waiting on me. Assuming we make it away from here alive, I'm guessing we'll have to pay the boat people their 2 mushrooms to take us back to the city and then rest and try again including paying them another 2 mushrooms for the second trip. That's if they don't try to kill us while we are weak here and take all the mushrooms we've got for themselves... :eek:

BigB: assuming we make it back to the inn and rest, can we get XP for everything since the fight with the city gate guards (that's the last XP award I show on my character sheet) and would I have your permission to spend my 11 DM points on Phoenix during that resting to increase her XP so she may have a chance at getting to 6th level? With just the XP from DM credits she would get up to 14,352XP. Hopefully, we'd get enough from the other stuff to get her to 15,000 and level 6. Because I'd REALLY like for her to be able to take the Blind Fight feat before coming back here. I'm thinking of tying it into her mental abilities. Like she can sense the minds of those around her even if they are invisible, etc.

ooc: some of these encounters are challenging at the least and with the group basically short a member (not normal party of 4) and with no cleric or mage, I feel inclined to offer an occasional hindsight choice.....favor of the gods, luck, or experienced adventurer able to predict enemies actions....to keep the encounters from becoming impossible.
 

The group is now in the treeline so to speak with the creatures rustling about at the edge of the clearing, still invisible but you can detect the occasional sound or shimmer to give them away. Phoenix is unconscious, Rowan is raging although may fall unconscious at its end. You have collected 8 mushrooms.

Seeing the Rowan retreat with Phoenix gives Lookspring a feeling of relief. The last thing he wanted was to be left alone in the dark with no allies to interpose between him and danger. He creeps out of the woods to their side as they set about recovering from their brush with death.


OOC: 4 charges left on the wand. I'll have to heal myself first to keep from dying the moment I activate it, but the second will go to Phoenix to keep her from bleeding out, then use the third and fourth on Rowan.
