[sblock="Lars' scroll case"]Lars, a long rolled up piece of parchment is in the case. It is covered in gylphs and arcane scripts that are indecipherable to you. Perhaps another in your party possesses the requisite skills or abilities to read the scroll.[/sblock]

She calls back down to Lars: "Ok, well get up here. We need to know what you want to do: get out of the city, or try to get the intelligence back from our new friend's boss."

Torrent responds: "Alright, well it looks like the majority opinion is to track down this Shealis. Kirio's stated his case pretty clearly earlier, so unless Lars has any compelling reason to avoid going to Gabals', I say we move out."

The gnome stands rubbing his sore head and looks up at the dwarf: "Oh, I've had enough of all this spying and adventuring business for a while. I'll find my way to a safe house and lay low for a bit. I implore you to retrieve the intelligence. I worked so hard to steal it!"

"Yes, let's go and get the intelligence. Oh, this might be useful." Lars hands over the scroll case to Arnir.

Arnir opens the case curiously "What have we got here, Lars?"

Arnir mutters to himself looking over the runes and symbols on the scroll, attempting to read the magic of the scrolls

[sblock="scroll contents"]Arnir, presuming you cast read magic, the runes and symbols suddenly become crystal clear. After a few moments of reading, you learn that the scroll contains three different arcane spells: Knock, Unseen Servant and Invisibility.[/sblock]

After Lars weighs in, Torrent pipes up: "Alright gentlemen, I think we've made a group decision: we will track down Shealis at Gabal's and attempt to get our hands on the intelligence. However, I understand the collective desire to get out of the city and our overall goal still stands at getting to Lyceum. So, whether we succeed in acquiring the intelligence or not, we will make haste to exit and be on our way."

She turns to Larion: "Lead on Mr. Prevarieth."

Larion nods, picks up his rapier and sheathes it before walking down the ramp and out the front door.

The gnome follows and then waves goodbye before he scurries off into the streets. "Hopefully we'll cross paths again friends. Thank you for saving my life!"

As you exit the compound, Torrent tells the guards: "You might want to head up to the fourth floor. I think some of guards got into a bit of a scuffle and may need your assistance."

The dwarven guards thank her, complain about someone named Grog causing trouble and then grab some supplies from the gate house before trotting over to the tower.

Larion leads the group further East through the slushy streets and you dodge various packs of running civilians, Gate Pass soldiers rushing to the Western walls and over your heads the occasional wyvern-riding Ragesian sorties with a Gate Pass sky cavalryman on the back of a griffon. You pass through two more district gates without incident before arriving at your destination.

Gabal’s school consists of a small campus with four 50-ft. towers and several smaller buildings, surrounded by a moat and an iron fence. One of the towers is cracked and still smouldering, presumably from a Ragesian bomb. Additionally, the corpses of a griffon and its rider float in the moat. The corpses are bloated and appear to have been looted by a few red robed students that poke at the bodies with their staffs.

Sitting on a large piece of masonry that fell from the cracked tower is a human man in his late twenties with a receding hair line and sporting a rather large paunch. He is also in red robes, but wears a fur cloak over top and smokes casually from a pipe. He watches the morbid students near the moat before seeing your party approach the iron gate. He stares for a moment, smiles and then rises to say:

"Well, well, well. Arnir Bowflight and Torrent. I thought you two would be long gone by now. What brings you to Gabals at this late hour? And with a retinue to rival the Emperor of Ragesia, may he burn in the abyss."

Torrent smiles: "Good evening...or should I say morning Diogenes."

"Diogenes...? Oh for the love of @#$@%@%" Kirio mutturs to himself. He is conflicted, he still desires to leave the city, but cannot help but feel excited at all the activity... "guess I've been whoring and playing in taverns too long, nice to be doing something again I guess."

He smiles over at Arnir, raising an eyebrow as if asking "who's this now?"

Arnir's face grows hard as he gazes upon the portly human. He storms up to the man and says "Diogenes, you son of a whore!" before his face cracks into a beaming smile "Do you have any idea what a miserable night I've had?!"

Arnir then turns to Kirio "This is Diogenes- one of the only humans I know worth more than the air he breathes...Diogenes here set me up with you lot, though I won't hold that against him!"

In a rare display of true affection, Arnir embraces Diogenes and begins to explain the situation: "So Torrent here was looking for some information that might help her cause, but it seems it's been snatched up by your favourite Elven evoker. We were hoping to retrieve it and hopefully get out of the city as soon as possible....Oh, did you see that dragon!? Quite a sight!"

"Yes, do tell, what is it you have found?"

At the tower, Lars lets Arnir and the others speak. He maintains a nervous look-out, trying to rub the fatigue out of his eyes.
