GM: | This post will take some time to complete, especially because Bannock's readied action has now taken effect.
The second rider's horse is currently laying prone in the grease. On its next turn, it will attempt to stand up. It can still be hurt (if you want to) but is basically a non-combatant. It is large though and can be used as cover.
Lars, all enemies are now aware of your position up on the cliff. | |
The sounds of horses hooves grow louder and louder and finally, you see three riders come around the bend in the road.
Two of the riders look similar: clad in chainmail and wielding longswords in their free hands. Longbows are strapped to their horses and winter cloaks flap behind them.
The third rider wears black studded leather, and a black helmet decorated with a silver horse’s head. He wields a fine looking composite longbow and as he guides the horse with his knees, he draws an arrow and prepares to fire. A cape billows behind him as he rides, and all you can see of his face is a toothy smile which breaks only to cry out the following:
"Find the prize and only take them alive if its possible!" As the words exit his mouth, slows his mount (stopping at F/G 14/15) so not to collide with the fallen horse and he looses an arrow at Torrent. Despite her shield and the cover from the rocks, the arrow strikes her in the shoulder with a meaty thud.
The two riders move down the road first, heading for Kirio and Bannock, swords raised to strike. The first rider plows through Kirio's grease spell without difficulty and heads straight for the elven bard, cutting down with his sword (stopping at F/G 6/7). Bannock's glaive thrusts forward at this point, looking to skewer the rider before he is able to attack Kirio. Bannock's glaive glances off the rider's armor with a metal scrape. The rider looks shocked for a moment, but his attack continues and his blade cuts deep into Kirio's collarbone, splitting flesh and spilling blood.
The second rider does not fare so well. His horse's legs slip on the magical grease and it tumbles to the ground in a heap and a cry. The rider is able to land softly though, turning the momentum into a roll which he bounds out of. Upon seeing the threatening range of Bannock's polearm, the rider moves up the slope (to J5) and slashes his sword at Hrimr, but chops only snowy foliage with his blade.
The half-orc on the left grimaces from a minor bullet wound, steps into the cover of foliage (at D12) and fires his crossbow at Lars on the cliff. The bolt clips the edge of the cliff and scatters away.
The half-orc on the right moves through the brush to take cover by some rocks (at K10). He then aims his crossbow and fires at Bannock, but the bolt is lost in the melee taking place on the road.
