Six From Gate Pass - A War of the Burning Sky Campaign (3.5)

The rider looks shocked for a moment, but his attack continues and his blade cuts deep into Kirio's collarbone, splitting flesh and spilling blood.

Kirio lets loose a shocked cry of anger as he feels the blade cut through his armor, flesh, and finally sliding away from his somehow intact clavicle... his instincts seem to take over as he uses the momentum of the blow to propel himself backwards, twisting in the air as he glides by Bannock (depositing a spray of blood along the way), lands and rolls to his...

OOC: If I avoid AOO, or manage to survive another hit (I will let our brave DM describe my demise if I don't):

feet behind them (G2) with his bow drawn; with an evil bloody grin on his face he fires at his attacker (targeting rider)!

OOC: Oh well, sweet acrobatics at least ;)

"Blasted Horsemen!" spits Alric knowing full well the damage they can do to a number of footmen scattered like this. No way to form a line, then the only thing we can do is kill them before they kill us!

With that final thought Alric steps forward and attempts to do just that.

OOC: Alric moves to E6 and attempts to attack the rider adjacent to him there.... My, the dice gods are fickle...

Alric, you your bastard sword slashes through the air and connects with the horseman. The blade strikes with such force that you sever the man's leg at his thigh, the steel of your sword snapping his femur like a twig. With a blood curdling scream, the man drops the reins and his sword and falls from the saddle in a torrent of blood. He writhes on the frozen ground as he quickly bleeds out and dies.

From around the bend, a horseman astride a massive warhorse clad in chain barding arrives at the battle. Hidden under his grey plate armor is a tightly muscled man, his armor worn from many battles, and humbly marked with symbols of sacred honor. His eyes have a darkness like a judge laying sentence. A broken helmet, cloven in the face, hangs from his belt. Sitting on his shoulder is a large black crow, its head askew as it watches you with beady eyes. A finely made greatsword is strapped to the man's back.

He slows his horse behind the mounted black-armoured archer (at E/F 18/19) and draws his blade. He then seems to concentrate for a moment, mumbles some words and moves his hands clumsily in his heavy armor.

GM: The horse is still standing in F/G 6/7.

Lars, the rider on the heavy warhorse does NOT see you on the cliff.

Lars observes the newcomer with the crow on his shoulder. Since he has a familiar he is probably some kind of mage, so Lars decides to target him first.

Still kneeling in the snow, he targets the rider and shoots, hoping he isn't noticed. Lars swears under his breath, cursing his poor aim.

Lars, your bolt flies towards the newly arrived armored enemy. When the bolt is about 2 feet away from striking the man in the chest, a spark of purplish-pink energy it deflects away.

Torrent sees Kirio tumble away in a bloody mess. She steps out of cover, arrow still lodged in her shoulder, and moves to stand behind Bannock (F3). "Hang on Kirio, let me patch you up!" she calls as she draws her wand and uses it to cast cure light wounds on the bard.

Hrimr takes a 5 ft step into another patch of undergrowth (K3). He then summons another acid dart into his free hand and hurles it at man who was engaged with him (J5).

OOC: Attack = +2 (Bab +dex) +1 Morale

Bannock shouts,

"You'll have to do better than spitting at him, Mr. Hrimr!"

Though he pronounces the dwarf's name more like "reamer".

Bannock dashes into H-6 and slices at the downed rider who was engaged with Hrimr.

Hrimr, your dart of acid goes wide of your target, sizzling some foliage.

Bannock, your attack fares no better as your glaive is once again turned away by sturdy chainmail.

The fallen horse shakily stands up in the middle of Kirio's grease spell and manages to limp up the slope (to J/K 14/15). Likewise, the horse that bore the now dead and legless rider, rears its blood-covered body and trots off in fear to (to B/C 8/9).

The surviving horseman smiles a green-tooth grin at Hrimr as he 5-ft steps towards the druid (to K4): "eeer dwarfy, dwarfy, I gots a hunnerd gold on yer bearded 'ed!" Despite Hrimir's position in the foliage, the horseman strikes again with his longsword. Yet, once again, the horseman only manages to trim the bushes.

As the horses move from the road, the black-armoured and mounted archer scans the battlefield and locks his eyes on the large pole-arm wielding fighter. With rapid movements he draws an arrow and fires it towards Bannock. As the arrow is flying wide, the archer has already nocked another arrow and fires at Bannock once again. The second arrow hits home, driving deep into Bannock's hip.

The half-orc scout at K10 follows the mounted archer's lead. After reloading his crossbow, he aims and fires as Bannock scoring a glancing wound along his arm. Likewise, the half-orc scout at D12 reloads and fires a bolt at Alric, but the bolt bounces off his tower shield.

Battle in the Mountain Pass - Round 3

Arnir takes aim at the Horse Archer who has peppered Bannock with arrows and decides to return the favour. Squiting his eyes against the snow, he pulls the bow back to the limits of his strength, breathing in deeply as he does so.

The arrow is released with a *thwip* and it flies towards its target. Though difficult to see, the arrow itself seems to be leaving a larger, shimmering streak through the air, and the the noise it makes as it cuts towards its goal is a terrifying shriek.
