Skill check DCs for creating items

So, DMs and other such folks out there, what sort've DCs would you put on crafting bows via the skill Profession: Bowyer/Fletcher?

IE, the DC of making a Composite Longbow?
How about the DC of a Masterwork Composite Longbow?
How about the DC of a Mighty (+1) Composite Longbow?
How about the DC of a Masterwork Mighty (+2) Composite Longbow?

Thanks

Well, it should be the craft skill as shown in the PHB. THe DCs are right there under the craft skill as well. I don't have a PHB handy or I'd post those.

PHB p66
Composite Longbow DC 15
Masterwork Item DC 20
Mighty Bow DC 15 +2/ Str Bonus

Would assume that a mighty masterwork would be DC 20 + 2/Str bonus.

This came up in my last adventuring session - how about masterwork arrows? Do they cost 300GP each to make them masterwork? Seems really ridiculous.

Oh and one point about masterwork items - you have to make the basic item with its basic craft check, then make the masterwork part with the masterwork craft check (which is always DC 20). Thus a masterwork Mighty Composite Longbow would require the might bow check (DC 15 + 2/str) and then the masterwork part (DC 20).

Anyone else notice that if your craft skill is high enough, you actually make more difficult items faster? The amount you can make in a week in SP is craft check * DC. So you get more done on a DC 15 item than you do on a DC 10 item. What's up with that?

A masterwork arrow costs 7 gp. PHB, p. 114. It's a good book; you should give it a read. ;)

Seriously though, the craft rules aren't terribly clear about masterwork arrows, but clearly, no, they don't cost 300 GP to make. An arrow is not a "weapon," so the comment in the Craft skill about a 300 GP cost for the masterwork component does not apply.

This would be true if the more difficult item had the same price, which (making as it does, not much sense) is generally not the case. What you can actually usually do is generate more value per unit time if you work on more difficult items, not make items faster. Which makes sense.

:P I did, couldn't find it. Thanks.

Hmm... that's a good point. When you're working on stuff that's really difficult to do, you get paid more for the same amount of time. Huh. Cool.
