Can a mounted Scout do skirmish damage? Can a mounted Thief sneak attack?

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks!

1) Post errata, no (yet another example of errata I ignore).

2) Assuming this thief also happens to be a Rogue, yes.

I don't think I'm familiar with the Scout class, but there's nothing in the rules for mounted combat that would prevent any class from using any special ability while mounted above and beyond Concentration checks for spellcasting while moving. If the rogue's target is flat-footed or in any other way susceptible to being sneak attacked, the mounted rogue can sneak attack it.

As Drowbane notes, the errata for Complete Adventurer states that the Scout's Skirmish ability cannot be used while mounted.

I believe that he and I were posting at the same time. I also noted that there's nothing in the rules for mounted combat, and said nothing about specific abilities, and that I was unfamiliar with the Scout class. ;)

I believe they are worried about a scout getting a full attack with skirmish damage while mounted (with mounted archery).

Although it could have been fixed much more elegantly by simply saying you can only get skirmish damage on the 1st attack of the round.

I mean, there's actually a mounted unit in warfare called a SKIRMISHER!!! Scouts should be able to skirmish while mounted.

Besides the fact that there are many other ways to move 10 feet and still make a full attack (or get multiple attacks) and apply the Skirmish damage to each.

I kind of like the idea that a Mounted Archer can be deadly, thus I still let Scouts skirmish as it was meant to be done.

Feel free to name a few, I can think of 4 ways it can be done. Dervish, Monk + a 3.0 Magic Item, Dualstrike (or whatever it is called), and anything that gives ya the Pounce ability.
