2. When they go into the island, Sky Captian's plane got damaged in the underwater battle. He said he could not steer. They go into the underwater cave and Captian says "I'm bringing it up" so he steers the plane up. But i thought they lost steering.

There was a rock jammed under his rudder; maneuvering caused it to fall out. They showed it slipping free, but it wasn't completely clear.

Gomez, I noticed Kong's tree, too. It was a lovely touch.

The movie had a lot of easter eggs in it but also a few gaps, Dex just showing up, the rock not slipping free.

As I understand it, though, such would send David Weber into an early grave, where he'd then spin madly.

Sorry for the minor Hijack, but this is what I know about this:
Both David Weber and Angella Joille were looking to adopt a child from a poverty striken country, Camboda I think. There is alot of paperwork, steps to go through. David Weber started the process long before Angella did. Beause Anlella was a famous actress, the politians let her skip a few steps and adopt a child alot sooner then normal. David Weber heard about it, and is mad at AJ, but she really did not do anything like pull string, ect..
IMO DW should not be mad at AJ, but mad at the people that let her skip steps to adopt.

I thought that the movie was visually gorgeous, but otherwise unengaging, and I found myself actively thinking about shopping lists and missing chunks of dialog.

There was no chemistry between Law and Paltrow, and the dialog lacked punch, and the plot was weak at best.

But it was visually amazing.

Another homeage was that the first wave of robots were based on the old Fleischer's Superman animated serials.

When they were underwater, did you notice

the ship the Victory (?) - complete with Kong's ripped-open cage - or the Titantic? Or the silhouette of Godzilla on the Japanese newspaper in the beginning?
