Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

The kobold drops his weapon, spits at it, and then says, pointing at the bleeding kobolds
[sblock]"Prove your mercy. Take them off the southward path and heal them."[/sblock]

OOC: Right... The halfling mercenary rogue-fighter speaks draconic... ;)

Not understanding a single word of the parley thus far, Jack checks the longevity of the two unconscious kobolds... No sense letting them die, if they can can answer our questions.

"Somebody give me a hand here," He says to no one in particular.

Once Jack has retrieved his bow, he'll check the two 'downed' kobold for signs of life. If one or the other or both are alive, he'll make as many untrained Heal as necessary to stabilize them both... Or he'll assist someone else with more skill.

Heal +2

Quarion, hearing the tone of the kobold's voice but not understanding its words and also thinking he sees a flicker of sympathy in his draconic speaking companions' faces, begins to quiver with fury. In elven he whispers harshly, "No! We do not bargain with such creatures! Scum of the earth, nay, not even of the earth. They are not of nature, they befoul the land, they kill and steal, they are not worthy of our sympathy!" He spits again and draws his bow even tighter.

Throughout the draconic conversation (of which he clearly doesn't understand a word), Planus remains tense, while eying the kobolds with his bow knocked and ready. The hunt is the one thing that can hold Planus's attention for more than a few minutes. About the time Quarion shouts out, Planus is debating whether he would be able to shoot the weapon from the hand of a kobold. Planus is also eager to see if his streak of hits continues.

He says in Common to the kobolds. "Drop your weapons and get on your knees with your hands behind your head!" He gestures towards Quarion. "Our friend there doesn't particularly like your kind and he's a dead eye shot with a bow. I'm two for two today and my personal best is eight in a row if you care to test your luck."

If all kobolds have dropped their weapons, Planus moves to the most heavily wounded kobold and spontaneously casts cure minor wounds in place of light. He responds to Quarion in elven, [SBLOCK]"Better to know more than we do about this dragon."[/SBLOCK]

Farid shakes his head in confusion. <Why are we going out of our ways to help these people? We have better uses for our resources.> He looks at who might be the talker of the kobolds, "What business do you creatures have in these forests?"

Thanyvan remembers a story about a heroic man from far away who could listen to and respond in ANY tongue of his choosing to any creature or beast. Thanyvan wishes he was this man right about now.

Not understanding Elvish, kobold-ish, or Draconic.... he is left to ponder this conversation's tension without understanding.

As far as he is concerned, he is still readying a heal spell should any of his comrades be injured.

Opale looks at the two fallen kobold.

"The kobold want us to heal their fallen comrade. They didn't start the attack. If any healer can help them, they will be more cooperative. If none of their comrade die, they will be more cooperative."

She then adds in elven to Quarion

[SBLOCK]"That definition also apply to many humans. Do you trust me?"[/SBLOCK]

She come back to the Kobold and tell him in Draconic.

[SBLOCK]"My name is Opale di Senzio. If we are here, it is because some of your kind are killing without reason some of our kind. Don't be surprise to see that coming back to you. It's sad, but mortals are like that. If you answers our questions, I'll make sure you can go alive, even if there is some who don't like that idea."[/SBLOCK]

She take a glance at Quarion and continue to speak in Draconic.

[SBLOCK]"First, what is your name, I've always prefer to know to whom I speak."[/SBLOCK]

"Of course they will", as Jack pulls his own arrow out of one unconscious kobold. "Who knows, maybe they don't like being under the dragon's thumb anymore the the rest of the villagers around here. But that doesn't mean we have to trust them just yet either... Does anyone have any rope handy?"

"And come on, guys... I'm not very good at this," Jack adds with an appreciative glance to Planus. "I know at least a couple of us are healers. You don't have to serve them breakfast in bed, for Mongrel's sake, just give them enough of your miracle mumbo-jumbo to keep them alive."

(ooc: unsure if we are still acting on intiative, but katherine will try to speak before the magic users waste their heal spells.)

"We can keep them from dying with our mundane talents, there's no need to bring them to full health until we have sorted this situation out." She adds in draconic [sblock]"If you truely care about your companions, make yourself harmless quickly."[/sblock] Then, feeling Quarion has been unfairly left out of the "what the South are they saying" game, she adds in Sylvan, [sblock]"Do you kill every kit in the forest because you see a rabid fox? Even these deserve to be judged individually. For all we know, they are deserters from the dragon. But they won't escape justice if they are deserving of it."[/sblock]

(ooc: diplomacy +9, sense motive (attending closely to the kobalds) +6)
