Jack Haggerty, Halfling Rogue 1/Fighter 1
Jack smiles and nods in a way that seems to say, 'Hey, it's me!'
He waits until almost everyone else is asleep. He sets aside all of his more obvious armaments except for his dagger, and slips off into the night, muttering something about findgn an outhouse on the way out.
He wanders aimless about town, staying out of sight, looking and listening for anything that might be out of the ordinary for a backwater village such as this one.

katherine takes a "watch" early in the night, lying down as if to sleep, but staying awake and alert as long as possible. Once she catches herself starting to drift, she "wakes up" and wakes Opale to tell her about a odd dream involving an ogre bakery, then really does go to sleep counting on the other woman to take over the informal watch.

Jack's nightly wandering leads him close to two guards, who have a chat.
"This Zess guy still i'n't back, eh?" - "Nope, must still be lookin' for Sina. Still think that scale is on our side?" - "Dunno, really. Seemed concerned 'nough 'bout what happens to poor Jeline ev'ry night. Wa'n't easy for her 'fore, raisin' an advent'rer's child, but what the other scales do to her after the girl van'shed..." - "Think those guys over by Marl are adventurers?" - "Dunno... di'n't cause any trouble yet, a'least. Dunno what's worse, the scales or advent'rers..."
With that, the discussion seems to die.

Jack returns quietly and inauspiciously later in the night... or perhaps it would be better qalified as early in the morning... He catches a quick catnap before breakfast.
Over breakfast, he mentions matter of factly to Katherine, "So that Zess fellow and his boys were definitely out looking for the missing girl. The girl is the daughter of the lady you were talking to yesterday. Her name is Jeline... The lady, not the girl. She's also the daughter of an adventurer... The girl, not the lady. There's other kobolds... Not Zess and his boys... in town that are apparently pestering Miss Jeline somehow since her daughter dissappeared. The guards don't fully trust the kobolds in town, and they don't entirely trust us either."

Opale wakes up early to end the watch. During that time, she takes times to prepare her spells for the day. As it is finish, she starts to prepare the breakfast for everyone and invite the others as they wake up.
During the breakfast, she replies to Farid:
"I can go and talk to Jeline. I have a spell that would allow me to take the appearance of Marl, or anyone else I want. Having the look of a villager, it would be less suspect... well, as long as I don't fall on the one appearance I use. You might make sure I don't fall on MArl while I visit Jeline. And once I'll be back, we could go for the scalies. I think you would need to wait me before starting to wander around the city. It would make the villager suspicious that I am not with you, and no where to be found. You like that idea?"
