Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

Jack glances from the torches in the fire to the thatch roof of Marl's house, back to the torches, and then to the empty road leading out of town where he expects... hopes... to see his companions arriving at any minute. He lets out an exasperated sigh only Mongrel could hear, and grumbles, "It never fails." Abandoning his plan to report back to Katherine and the others, he circles around to the back of Marl's house, and begins improvising a new plan...

OOC: Jack will sneak around to the side of Marl's house that faces the edge of town (opposite from the marketplace, presumably). He'll be looking for any kobolds guarding the house, and for doors or windows on that side of the house.

If the rest of the group is not intercepted by Jack, I presume we will just head straight into town. (I can't imagine the lizards noticing Jack, much less catching him, but if he's not waiting for us, there's trouble.)

Jack:
[sblock]Making your way to the backside of Marl's house and barn, you are sure that there are people in both the barn and the house. The two buildings have been turned into makeshift prisons, windows hastily nailed shut with a board or two, and the doors held shut with a removeable bar. The doors are at the front, and well in sight of the kobolds.[/sblock]

As the rest of the group approaches Grenton, they soon see smoke rising from what must be the marketplace. Jack does not intercept the group.

Opale looks at the smoke, and tells to herself, but loud enough that everyone around her to hear. "Smelling fishy. And why Jack hasn't come back? If the scout have been capture, that's a bad thing."

"Jack can take care of himself, but either way it looks like suprise is moot." As soon as the group reaches the town square or sees some kobalds, whichever comes first, Katherine raises her voice in a trained cadence, speaking of their responsibility to the townsfolk and all those enslaved by the dragon and the glory that will be gained by their actions. The others feel the inspiring words focusing them on the battle to be joined. (begin inspire courage as soon as the enemy is spotted, +1 to attack and damage to all who can hear.)

edit, ooc: I imagine not much will be happening over the weekend, but if combat starts before monday, katherine will shoot at kobalds not in melee while keeping up the bardic oration.

Still out of sight, Jack strings his bow, and keeps it in hand as he creeps around the house to its exposed front. Waiting until the kobolds are looking the other way, he moves out toward the barred door...

OOC: If still unnoticed, Jack will very carefully unbar the door to the house. If not, he'll think something else up quick! :D

Looks like the kobold wasn't bluffing about killing all the villagers. They're probably going to burn the place. Only one thing to do.. Lets attack while we have the chance.

Rika draws her shortbow and strings it. She prepares to snipe any kobolds she can get a good shot at. If the kobolds notice the group, she puts the bow away, draws her rapier, and takes up a position between the group and the kobolds.
