"oh, there's a tunnel south of Grenton, by an old cottage, on a hill--I think that's where Eskaron went. The last thing he said was 'You need... Eskaron... dragon... not... silver...' but I don't understand it."

"Wait, you mean the priest was alive? If this dragon is busy puttering around in the woods, I'm sure we could handle him. Let's go to the cottage. He was probably just babbling."

Could it be possible that Eskaron would be a simple lycanthrope. A were-lizard... but I've enver heard of were-reptiles.

"Hmm. Good thinking Opale. I ran into a lichen-thrope once. Seven feet tall it was, with arms like tree trunks. Its eyes were steel, cold and hard. Had a shock of hair, red, like the fires of hell. But not nearly so fearsome as a dragon. They are silver you say?"

"They are not silver... lycanthrope are intolerant to silver. A scratch with a dagger made of silver can be very harmfull for the were-creature. I've not witness it myself, but my source is good enough to consider that fact."

OOC: I've rolled a Know(Local) to be sure if Opale would know that fact about lycanthrope, as lycanthrope are humanoid type. I've rolled 24.

On Opale's question, a villager speaks up "Most of the time, we saw Eskaron in human form. Him switching to dragon form was always a sign of bad things to follow, so we usually tried not to witness it. I think it was a pretty dark color. Certainly not silver."

[sblock]It is possible to express the idea this way in draconic, though the impeding death of the priest could be a cause for the mangled sentence as well.[/sblock]
Bardic Knowledge Check:
It would seem that lycanthropes are the most common creatures vulnerable to silver, but many stories suggest that other supernatural creatures may be vulnerable to it, as well, mostly some inhabitants of other planes.

Opale to herself "A silver dragon would not do such thing... and silver are usually use against lycanthrope. Could it be possible that Eskaron would be a simple lycanthrope. A were-lizard... but I've enver heard of were-reptiles."

"Oh... I called that one..." Jack mentions in a manner that suggests someone owes him winnings from a bet that was never made.

"It might not be a dragon," Jack mentions off-handedly, after returning to his half-finished beer.

"It could, conversely, be a human shapechanging to look like a dragon... Or something that looks like a dragon... Or using illusionary magic to disguise himself as a dragon... Or maybe he's something else entirely... Anybody care to hunt a were-dragon?"

Meanwhile, Thanyvan has set out into the tunnels, taking a look at what this "shrine" is.

Among the villagers, a confused discussion has begun "Do you think...?" "Why would they...?" "Impossible...!" "Hasn't Meras claimed...?"

Farid raises a hand, "The old priest died of age, as far as we can gather, while we were there. Those last words were his last words."

Katherine hands over 10 gold, with the classic comment in halfling "
clear the board and pay the winners...

Raising her voice to cut through the confusion, Katherine steps towards the group. "Meras said the dragon was no real dragon, yes? Thats what finally brought him from eskeron's order of no execution to doing the deed himself in his dragon-like form." She indicates the papers from the tunnels. "He had recognized something that would divide the kobalds that serve eskeron even further apart, and leave him without the support he needed to opress you." She catches Jeline's eye in particular and also tries to pick out those townsfolk who had been listed in the papers as dangerous. "We can end this, for you and all the others who have been enslaved but we need the facts, and we may need some help." She manages a small smile, "and we might need the loan of the family silver if any has been hidden from confiscation."

"So, you believe what this kobold priest supposedly said?" Jeline asks. "Well, I guess technically none of the kobolds ever lied to us..." she shudders. "Silver? The little silver we had was about the most valuable we had, and the kobolds grabbed pretty everything of value..." At this point, Joran interjects "Well, that is not quite correct. How much silver will you need?"

"I don't think we would have time to coat weapon with silver. If you have silver knife, it might be use for weapon. I'm quite sure our little friend could stick one in Eskaron neck." Opale starts to search around for Jack "Hmm.. where is he? Oh! What do you think, Jack?" she finally says when she spot the little halfing.
