Less a spell than a combination: Summon Monster with Empower Spell. You can get LOADS of beasties! It'd never really occured to me that there are dice in there that can be affected.

One of my players tonight realised just how good Ray of Enfeeblement is these days.

I have to second this. It's good at low levels, but at mid-high levels it's a ranged touch to reduce your foe's strength by up to 1d6+5 points. That's enough to completely nerf a melee powerhouse, particularly if you do it several times.

Not bad for a first level spell.

Ray of Enfeeblement - Great spell for stopping PC/NPC's in their tracks without killing them.

Polar Ray - It's great for Arcane Tricksters for two reasons. 1) It's sneak attackable and 2) Critical hit with it.

I never even considered mirror image until I saw the arcane trickster of our group get through several melees with major BBEGs and not get touched. My melee focused Eldritch Knight learned it from him the next downtime we had.

Careful with this one... My bladesinger used this against some big nasty giants, and learned the hard way that low AC for the figments (only dex and dodge are used) + high attack bonus for giants + great cleave = wasted spell and seriously bruised elf.

Except that you can't do it several times on the same foe.

However, my 7th level sorceror really loves his Empowered Ray of Enfeeblement. That's 6 to 13 strength points (or -3 to -6 on attack and damage from the foe).

Sun burst! I aways thought that it was a weak spell (6d6 for a 8th level spell?) but one of my pcs (a wizard/loremaster/archmage) show me how good it is, ref save (DC 31 in this case) or blidness!

Glitterdust. Gets rid of Invisibility, effectively blocks things like hide in plain sight AND blinds everyone in a 10' radius...at second level.
