[Slightly OT] Bugbear Virus... named for D&D?

Don't know if this has been talked about, but has anybody read about the Bugbear Virus? Whoever named it has to have played D&D (who does name computer viruses anyways?). I saw it mentioned on the local news and when the female anchor mentioned the name, she had this tone her voice that said,
"what a totally stupid & ridiculous name... whoever named this is weird."

Weren't bugbears monsters from fairy tales, originally? The guy may have been referencing that. But considering the kind of nerds/geeks/Gerks you get making Computer Viruses, just maybe...

Yeah, the bugbear (at last the name) comes from fairy tales. They're basically critters used to frighten children, along the lines of the Boogey Man. So the word gets a lot of use outside of RPGs.
