Slow Changes (Just theoreterizin...)

Now I was thinking, do you think the next incarnation (5e) will start to (or fully) do away with the classes?

A natural evolution into a classless game (that many have called for over the years) that would be too drastic of a change, but ok if done slowly?

For me, once it hits classes, and hit pointless, and totally spell-slotless, it's no longer Dungeons and Dragons. It might be fun as all heck, but that's my personal line in the sand.

I am not sure about spell slots, but I think level and hit points are definitely something that sets D&D apart from most other games I played.

Especially since I started role playing with Shadowrun and hitpoints seemed totally alien and stupid to me when I first "encountered" them in D&D. But I grew to appreciate, understand and like them a lot.
