As an alternative: You could maybe use the FleshWarper PrC (Lords of Madness)?

It also turns you into an aberration, and is a more 'hands on' experience than just playing an Elan.

I'd love to use the prc, but do you have any suggestions on how to get graft flesh once the character reaches level 7, or a way to get it while ignoring the 10 skill ranks prerequisite?

What level are you aiming at, what other abilities do you require, what are you building towards?

How can the Elan not be human-descended?

Elan are not descended from anything because they're created not born. Are constructs or undead descended from anything?

Further, Races of Destiny includes a sidebar explaining what races/templates qualify for the Human Heritage feat. Elan is neither mentioned nor does it match the races/templates that _are_ mentioned.

Anyway, there's a single person you need to convince: Your DM. The opinions of random people on this board like me shouldn't matter to you, anyway.
