Smallville: Blank

Crothian

First Post
Amnesia hits Smallville, again!! It's airing as I type that (for some reason they play it late here). So, what do people think about this one?

It was good. Obviously they were going to be wiping memories like crazy, but at least, for the most part (with the exception of Clark getting his memory back), the plot was structured so that it's resolution didn't have that deus ex viridi feel.

SPOILERS

Very good episode. In fact, one of the best of the season. The memory loss really made sense this time around. And they did not take anything away from Chloe! That alone made it worthwhile. Not only was Chloe particularly hot this episode, but I really felt for her. It's wrong that Clark pines for a chick that is unworthy of him.

The Jason scene completely rocked.

Lex is a manipulative SOB. I am glad Clark caught onto it, although wish it had been a bit sooner.

The freak of the week turned out to be a very sympathetic character for a change. I liked his character and would not mind seeing him turn up again.

In any event, I loved this episode and am really looking forward to seeing what happens at the end of this season. I am confused that Clark has not caught on to Chloe yet. I know that he knows, but he does not want to admit it. I wonder why he cannot trust Chloe. When he was not hampered by his past, he trusted her completely. Weird.

I am willing to bet this has to do with Pete. Right before he left town Pete got the crap beat out of him because he knew Clark's secret and Clark doesn't want to put Chole in that position.

I, for one, was impressed by this episode. I was VERY impressed that they did not wimp out with Chloe and erase her memories of Clark being super-powered. When the doctor said, "I was just going to erase your memories of the last three days, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back much further than that," I was sitting there saying to myself, "Ah, yes, I see it coming now - they're going to chicken out and erase all her Clark-knowledge. Too bad that Clark is CONVENIENTLY hampered by kryptonite right now." But I'll be darned if they didn't. Even if she had the knowledge that he saved her removed, she obviously kept the knowledge of the past three days, and before.

"It's funny, but even with your memories removed you made all the same choices... except for one."
"Chloe, what did I do?"
"... You trusted me."

If ever there was a loaded statement to end with. :D

And what does this business with Lana mean? Is he going to screw with her again? She's as bad as he is, coming back to him in the first place. Looks like Clark's not the only one who's not "over" their relationship. Looks like another round of "let's play tether-ball with Lana's emotions, again."

But definitely a good episode.

My favorite line:

Premature combustion.

Classic. :D

"Premature Combustion - DEFINITELY one I didn't need to know about."

I'd almost forgotten about that one. How about when Chloe subconsciously pulls her jacket tighter when she finds out he can see through solid objects? :)

This was a really good episode. I like how it defined the roles of Clark vis a vis his friends. Chloe is the loyal friend and confidante who would be perfect for him if he would just open his eyes. Lois as a pain in his butt, but still a good friend and sounding board for him that gives him dead on advice. Lana as the girl he still loves and who may love him back, though the relationship is doomed. Lex as friend/schemer/betrayer.

I really liked how this episode gave us such a concrete sketch of the current relationships in the series along with a hint of whats to come. This is definitely one of the best episodes this season and may be one of the best Smallvilles period.

I was also worried about them taking away Chloe's memories of Clark's abilities. That would have been a lame copout. Also very happy with the direction with Clark and Lana, but I'm reserving judgment until something actually happens in that relationship. Right now, it's just a bunch of hot air.

I'm afraid I still don't understand what's going on between Clark and Lois. Even though Lois has a slight attitude towards Clark (which seems to be tongue in cheek more than anything else), it doesn't make any sense to me why Clark would dislike Lois. In fact, Lois is darn hot. Clark should be all over that.
