Smallville season Finale---Spoilers *Blink, Blink*

I caught only the last fifteen minutes of the show, but boy howdy it looks a lot better than previous episodes! I'll probably start tuning in regularly next season.

This episode and the one from two weeks ago were excellent - the rest of this season, IMHO, has been really eratic. Be glad you missed the kryptonite gasoline episode. Next season certainly has promise, though :)

Man, the modern Superman is a stupid guy. A bit of an :):):):):):):), actually. He gets angry at his friends, jumps to conclusions, and doesn't trust anyone. Compare that to the Christopher Reeve(s?) Superman, who was really a nice guy, and I think I understand why I don't like this show.

I know it's possible to write a show about a hero who doesn't have silly fallings-out with his friends every week and a half.

I think the problem is the writers never departed from "angsty teen drama" mode. Hopefully they'll eventually feel confident enough to do a super hero show without the teen soap opera nonsense.

I love their subtlety though. The writers are very good with foreshadowing and symbolism while remaining a WB show. Ever noticed that clark always tends to wear a red shirt/ blue coat or blue shirt and red coat? :D

Daniel, I've been watching it ever since Buffy left last year, and it has been of overall good quality this year - could be great, but the terrible episodes just drag the great ones down to merely good. :)

Every time I think I'm giving it up, they keep on twisting things to interest me again. This episode, as well as the episode where Lionel erases Lex's memory, were masterfully done. *sigh* seeing as how I'm Buffyless, and Angelless, Smallville looks to be my only Genre retreat next year.

Assuming we don't give up cable entirely (I know it's on broadcast, but without cable we basically get the Snow channel), I'll probably become a regular fan.

Partly, of course, there's the difficulty of catching up to speed in a soap-opera show. If anyone wanted to give a quick recap of where the characters are at the end of the season, I'd be supergrateful. E.g.,

Lionel Luthor: in jail for _________, and has just implemented plans to _________ and ________. Knows that Clark has some powers, but doesn't know just what. In the long term, is motivated by ________.

What level of spoiling do you want (i.e. do you want to watch Smallville Reruns this summer, or just be brought up to speed fast.)?

If you wanna bring me up to speed fast, that'd be great; reruns aren't dependable enough (sometimes out of order, preempted for other things, etc.)

Thanks!
Daniel
