Smallville stuff [possible spoilers later]

didn't really get into it this evening, mostly doing stuff and catching scenes.

But here's a thought:

I hope Lex doesn't become the Lex of the comics/movies ... as in Superman's Arch-nemisis. Maybe an old friend who's he often at odds with, but not out and out badguy. I like the humanness of Lex.

other than that, next week looks kinda cool!

The indications from the creators/producers of the show in this week's TV guide are that they aren't going to break that little bit of canon. Lex Luthor is, in the long run, going to turn into a bad guy.

Mind you, beng a villain doesn't mean you aren't human. They say there won't be a single moment when you'll be able to point at him and say, "He turned evil here". To them, evil is a journey, not a moment. The show is in general supposed to be about Clark's journey towards becoming a hero, and Lex's journey towards becoming a villain.

Which I think they are doing well. Course I'm just waiting for the appearance of Bruce Wayne soon.

Do you know something I don't? It seems hard to imagine this ever happening, given the byzantine structure of DC's character licenses. I know rumors have swirled about this for a long time, but I think it's just wishful thinking.

Note: Bruce Wayne is not Batman not in trade mark and licenses so they can have a character Bruce Wayne and never tie it to Batman. They let the fans do that. :)

As far as Lex goes, there are villians and then there are arch-villians. Lex can be the bad guy and never be caught or known, he can do good for his own image, he can be bad to protect that image but in the end he gets what he wants. He is a mastermind!:)

I too like how they are making Lex. Right now it is his father who is the bad guy and Lex is sorta a good guy trying to save Smallville from his father. But you can also tell that he has some bad guy traits. Following people around, having people spy on someone he doesn't trust. He is slowly going over to be the mastermind. I for one have enjoyed the journey thus far and am looking forward to it in the future.

As far as I remember Bruce and Clark are supposed to be about the same age. At least in the comics that I can remember they were about the same age. So that would mean that Bruce Wayne is in school in Gothom now just as Clark is in school. And not yet Batman as Clark is not yet Superman.

The producers already said in interviews they'd love to have Bruce Wayne drop by for an episode, and since they had the Birds of Prey license, this may be a bit closer than we think...

In an interview they said Bruce would be some years older than Clark. He'd be about Lex's age, and maybe would have gone to boarding school with Lex. Without the Batman persona to focus his rage, Bruce Wayne would be a very angry young man. The last line Clark would say to Bruce would be "I think you should get some professional help".

Are you sure about that? I've seen some of the legal mumbo-jumbo tied to the DC comics licenses - they trademark everything, including stuff like "Truth, Justice and the American Way" and Green Lantern's ring-recharging oath.

I don't recall seeing "Bruce Wayne" in there - but I'd be surprised if DC didn't make some attempt to trademark the name.

Of course, Warner owns Batman, Superman and Smallville, so I con't see how they'd have that much of a problem including Bruce Wayne in the show, unless they fooolishly sold off all rights to that name.

I also like the way Lex is being portrayed. He is complex and his motivations mixed, you can sometimes see the struggle between moral judgement and personal vengence, power, self protection/preservation. In the first season Lex sided with what would be "right" more than he has this season, I think it is the subtle change that makes him so good. His change this season has changed he and Clarks relationship, they are not near as buddy, buddy.

Spoiler alert>>>>>>>

I am glad that it appears they are finally moving Clark and Lanna into a relationship it seems. The back and forth thing was getting old. I wanted to write the Smallville people and tell them to take some risks here and take a look at Alias that has no fear of stirring the pot what-so-ever and it works!

I also think Chloe is going to make a very nasty jealous girl-friend-wannabe!
